My kiddoes were moving into the dorms of Texas Tech this past weekend and I was spending the weekend helping them get settled. I needed something close to the campus and didn't want to spend very much because I wouldn't be at the hotel very much. This Super 8 fit the bill exactly and I'm not even looking for other hotels anymore. It didn't seem like it would be that close to campus but it was SO EASY, and quick, to get back and forth, even for someone like me who's normal state in a car is 'Lost'. But what really sold me on this hotel were the employees and the bed. It can be a great hotel but if the bed isn't comfortable, I'm not coming back. This bed was great, although I'm glad I brought my own pillow, there's were small and lumpy. The young man who checked us in when we arrived was very personable, also a Tech student and we chit-chatted about the school. But the young man on the evening shift the two nights I was there was such a big help. When I arrived back at the hotel around 10 the first night, I discovered I didn't have my room key with me. He took my pertinent info and got me a new key with a smile. About 15 minutes later I was back downstairs because I couldn't get the door open after a trip to the ice machine. As this happens frequently to me, maybe it goes with being Lost all the time, I seem to be key challenged as well. I was not looking forward to going back down because the night attendants normally make me feel like a non-functioning adult. But this young man was as nice as could be, locked up his desk and walked me upstairs to my room. Thankfully the door wouldn't open for him either, but then showed me a trick to get it to work and back downstairs he went, with a cheerful good night. The next night I was to receive this young man's (I didn't get his name) help again! I came back to the hotel around 8 with my dinner from a drive-thru. I was very tired so hadn't checked to my bag to make sure I had all the necessary implements. Big mistake! No cutlery to cut up my meal with. Back downstairs I head, to see the if attendant can help me out. And there is my friend, who whipped out a jar of plastic cutlery, with a big smile. One caveat however, for this property. The shower was less than desirable. The water would only go half through the shower head so it was kind of a shower/bath. But since the bed was so great, no big deal! One more brag. After realizing I would not be able to get 2 kids moved in and pantries stocked in 1 day, I inquired about staying another night the next morning. No problem to add another night AND at my current price. LOVE Super 8!

We LOVE to hear customers say they LOVE Super 8! The nice man you speak of was Marcos. Everyone does love Marcos. When we saw your post he remembered you by room number and name. We will be happy to see you on your next visit and are glad we were able to make your stay wonderful. Also we quickly went and changed the diverter that controls the shower/bath situation.
