“Totally relaxing”

9 Beaches Resort

We (a family of four) have just retruned from 9 Beaches, which is everything they say it is on the tin; relaxing, friendly, efficient and stunningly beautiful. What really sets it apart though is the attitude of the staff who are all, without exception, wonderful. The cabanas (cabins) are perfectly adequete for a family of four, so long as you don't squabble, remember - the walls are canvas so you could be overheard by your next door neighbour if you are too noisy. All nine beaches are stunning and very clean as they are swept clean every day, the water sports are great and the marvellous "Chef Joe" presides over a good set of menu's that cater for most tastes. If you are looking for a kickedback, flipflop type of holiday you will go a long way to beat this.

My husband & I stayed @ 9 Beaches the first week of April. We were a little nervous @ first, because that was the first day that they were reopening the resort for the season. Everything ran so smoothly, we would have never known that it was their first day of operation. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a friendly check in staff, as well as a rum swizzle, the place was absolutely amazing to say the least. The weather was great, and the views from the lobby were amazing.

We were then driven on a golf cart to our assigned cabana, which was just a sort ride across the resort. Once @ our cabana, it was all that we had expected and more! The views from our deck were breathtaking. The water was so crystal clear and so blue in color.

Once we had checked into our cabana, and settled in, we walked up to the restaurant to get some lunch. We were greeted by Sue, General Manager, who was so friendly, and let us know if there was anything that we needed to let her know, or any of the staff, and they would see to our needs. The whole staff genuinely just wants you to relax, and feel right @ home, which we did.

For the people that are questioning whether you want to stay in a cabana for vacation, this is the place to be. It is so different from anything we have ever done. We have stayed @ a lot of different resorts before, but we wanted to stay somewhere this time where you had no schedule, no dress code, and just pure relaxation. Well, we got all of the above & more. The cabanas are exactly the way they explain them on their website. You can hear the waves @ night, and the wind blowing on your canvas. So peaceful to sleep by, and to sit on your own private deck - :-)

The bar staff @ the Umm Umm lounge, which consisted of Shaine, Hian & Jahdal were so friendly and accommodating. They gave us a history of Bermuda and gave us some ideas of what to visit/do on our vacation.

The HiTide Restaurant has the best resort food that we have ever had. We met the head chef, Joseph, who came out to see how everyone liked their meals. Very interested in making sure that everyone was happy & satisfied w/everything. Also, Imelda, our waitress for most of the week, was so hard working and eager to get us anything that we wanted while we were there.

Unfortunately, Dark N' Stormy's was not open as of yet. They were hoping to open the 2nd week of April. We were a little disappointed, but you could still sit on the deck and order food, and look @ the beautiful water and boats going by.

There is a mini bus that comes to the resort, and runs on the hour. They will take you to the Naval Dockyard, where you can also catch the ferry into Hamilton or St. George's. $5 per person. I highly recommend that you go to the Dockyard. There is so much to do there. Lots of shops, pubs and restaurants. Check out the Frog & Onion, really neat place! We also took the ferry into Hamilton for the day, and walked around. There are all kinds of little shops, restaurants and pubs also. Purchase your tokens for the ferry @ the desk @ 9 beaches, it is alot cheaper.

We plan on returning later this year to 9 beaches once again. 7 days was not enough, we will stay longer this time around.

“Most relaxing spot in Bermuda?”

9 Beaches Resort

9 Apr 2008

After many stays at different "luxury" hotels on the island over the years, we finally found the right spot to really unwind and enjoy the quiet West End of Bermuda. Very well-maintained setting with spectacular views in every direction.

Highlights of our 5 days in paradise -- friendly and attentive (but not intrusive) staff; beautiful, sheltered little beaches on both sides of the peninsula so you could always be out of the breeze; relaxing walks on quiet sidestreets to the wharf on Mangrove Bay and the stores in Somerset Village; and we loved having the mini-fridge in the room for the beverages we picked up at the grocery in the village.

Already thinking about our next visit to 9 Beaches!

“Very accommodating at 9 Beaches”

We just got back from 9 Beaches. We went for the 3-4-3 April 1st through the 6th, 2008. My mom, dad, 14 year old nephew, myself, husband and our 8 and 11 year old. I am a little reluctant to write this review but, I feel the need to express it for others.

First of all, it is NOT for everyone! My family is laid back and just LOVED the cabanas, the view, the water the people. You need to have an open mind when you go to 9 Beaches, this is not the posh place where you will get spa treatments, or golf on site. Although, all of this will be arranged for you if you would like.

Service in the dining room can be slow at times, but, it is not due to the fact that the workers are not hustling. They are awesome people who don't always have the staffing that is needed in order to prepare the food in a timely manner. James, Fleny, Imelda are the BEST by far! They are professional, friendly, and MOST accommodating in EVERY situation! They are what made our stay so nice and the wait for the food not so bad. Besides the fact that the chef personally made my son pancakes to accommodate his needs!

Robin, the manager is fantastic! I can't even begin to explain how he went above and beyond for our family during our stay.

Gina, Willy, Sara and Laurie are great at the front desk. Very helpful!

The only negatives I can say is that there is limited dining at the resort and in April there are a lot of things that are still not up and running. We didn't know that prior to our reservation, so that was a bit disappointing. But, then again Robin came through and hand delivered smore's to our cabanna to roast that evening at the fire pit! You can't get better service than that!

Would love to return and wish 9 Beaches and the staff all the best for years to come for a successful resort and make it to number 1 place to visit in Bermuda.

Oh, if you do get lucky enough to go make sure you see Pappa! He is the man!

If you're going to Nine Beaches the first thing I will tell you to definitely do is get a cabana on the water. Here are the highs and lows:

Pros:
1) cabanas on the water are incredible. You fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the ocean and it doesn't get any better than that.
2) the beaches...there are nine of them, and they are all mostly small (i.e. some fit only 6 people, if that) and I loved that because I hate busy beaches.
3) The phones: Nine Beaches gives all guests cell phones which are fabulous for when you need to contact the front desk or simply call for a cab if you visit Hamilton, this was an INCREDIBLE convenience.
4) Breakfast is very good (for dinner see below).
5) People are very nice--both at the resort and in Bermuda, just the nicest, nicest people.

Cons:
1) Dinner was a disappointment. I think we ate on the property twice and it left a lot to be desired. We then went into Hamilton for dinner and that is what I recommend (get a cab to do so). Hamilton has some great restaurants.

Things to remember:
1) This is not the Ritz; these are waterproof canvas cabanas on the water (and on land). Which isn't to say that they aren't clean or adorable. It's just to say that if you're looking for lush accomodations please don't come here. What you have instead is a romantic setting, clean rooms which give you everything you need (big bed, clean linens, towels, toiletries, shower, beach bag, hairdryer, table with chairs, couch, balcony with chairs, NO TV).
2) I recommend that people come to visit starting in late May. we went early-mid May and I did not get into the water past my knees (my husband did). It's beautiful and you can lay on the beach but the water is too cold then.
3) As far as activities, you can snorkel, do paddle boats, play tennis (not new court/raquets), pay extra for a sailboat tour and snorkeling (I recommend this).

All in all if we go back to Bermuda we would go back to nine Beaches because of how amazing it was to wake up on the water. and oh that clean water.
