The cable car leaves across from the main entrance to the Tivoli theme park. You do not need Tivoli tickets to use it.
Everytime I have ridden the Teleferico, I was able to jump straight on with no queues. You don't have to share the cable car with strangers either. So you can ride one solo or in a couple if you wish. 4 is the maximum they take.
The ride up the mountain is pretty spectacular, giving you a great view down the coast, and how they've just built and built up the mountain. If you are afraid of heights, then this isn't too bad. As because its going up the side of the mountain, the floor is never too far away! I've done other cable cars which stretch across valleys, and you think "yes, we're high!". But I didn't get any sense of that on this one.
At the top, you are free to wander around. There are some walking paths, a cafe/bar (which as you can imagine, isnt the cheapest in the world). There is a birds of prey thing, which I didn't see much action of. Other than seeing eagles chained to the ground which didn't impress me one bit.
Youre really going up there for the views. You can have a wander around, find a quiet spot and relax.
