We just returned from our great tour of Costa del Sol. We spent one week at the Sunset Beach Club through RCI exchange and really liked the resort. It is located in a nice area near the promenade with many small seafood restaurants and about 20 minutes walk to the marina. Marina has many shops and restaurants and is very beatiful.
The resort is quite big . Our one bedroom apartment was on the 10th floor with a mountain view. I requested a quite location on a higher floor ahead of time. Check in and check out was quick. There is a small but well stocked grocery store and a bakery at the resort . It was very helpful to get some fruit, yougurt, sandwich ingredients , eggs , water, cheap beer and wine. The only inconvenience we encountered in our room was the fact that we had two single beds, we ended up rearranging some furniture to put beds together but the staff moved the beds back twice during our stay. Their mattressed are rock hard and pillows were lumpy. We didnt complain but it was a nuisance with single beds. I am not sure if they have any double beds in one bedroom apartments. We only ate once at the restaurant and our dinner on the night of the arrival was very good. They also have nightly entertainment that we saw three evenings and it was good.Free wi-fi works well in the lobby but it is always loud since there are kids running around. It was too cold to enjoy their outdoor pool area and you need to pay for pool towels and a safe rental as well as 30 euro electricity fee. Location was good for travel with a bus stop nearby. Supermarket is also close. We booked different tours thorough the hotel with a pick up from it but it takes more than an hour for other hotel pickups. VDT tours were reasonably good . We also took tours to Morocco and Gibraltar. Trip to Tangier was fun but it takes a long time to get there by bus and then by ferry. Of course, they also have carpet sales and natural remedies as part of the tour to sell misc articles but it was interesting to see some of their products too. If you dont like long sales presentation then think twice about hotel's free blanket tour since they sell mattresses, pillows and blankets. We didnt know and got stock there for more then an hour before they take you to a botanical garden which is pretty but a big waste of time to get there. Cable car ride in Benalmadena was great.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel even though we didnt spent too much time there because we took tours every day and liked to explore the area.
There are mostly visitors from UK at the resort with very few people from US. Most signs and menus are in english and it was helpful, guides on the hotel organized tours spoke four languages with every explanation.
In summary, it was a good RCI exchange and convenient to explore the area.
Find out if they have double beds. Ask for a quite location on higher floors for a view and quite...
