we been told that Benalmadena was a nice place to visit, we booked a through Thomas Cook the Benalmadena Palace we knew it was on "heart attack hill" through the online reviews, actually if you took your time it was not too bad, but once a day is enough after walking about. Having arrived at the Hotel we were given room 501, A horrible attic type room with sloping ceiling which within 5 minutes of entering we all hit our heads on it trying to get round the foot of the bed, the balcony was a small area with brick wall to the front and sides, to get any view of the complex we had to stand on a chair, Very Dangerous, later that day looking up at the roof we noticed little heads poking out of the roof and realised this was the the type of room given to us, Anyway we complained that this room was not for us a we had a child with us, we were very very reluctantly offered room 200, it had no balcony, so no view, it was just a box standard room you would get in any city, but we decided that we would accept it after all is was safer for the child, however we did not realise that a games room with noisy machines was connected to one our walls, the room was just off the main landing which contained two drinks machines, two coin opperated massage chairs and the main entrance to the Bar/ entertainment room, all was fine until after 7pm, then it was bedlam the activity and noise was very bad, but people on holiday have to put up with some noise, about 1230am we tried to sleep, 1.30am the next night was even worse so much so my wife went out to ask the children running riot to please be quieter, but it made no difference, the noise from the bar which had been loud all evening was getting louder by the minute, the male guest were watching football at 1.45 am in the bar then branching out onto the landing the bar door, cheering and shouting, the kids by this time had lost all control they were tring to break into the games room which had now closed, tring to get drinks and confectionary out of the machines without paying jumping all over the massage chairs, this was the time to complain, my wife went to the reception and asked why this was going on, she was told the security men should be sorting it out, she told the reception that this was not good enough and we wanted to move again, she was told to come back at 7am and they would see if any room was available, she told them there was no " IF", next morning we were given the key to room 501 to look at, at first all seemed great, nice room with a little balcony, we sat on the bed and thought this is the one, then we realised the was a winding noise and a sudden bang which repeated gain and again. we were next to the lift and people were obviously using it to get to their floors. Having had no sleep for two days we decided enough was enough and I was ready to fly home, we went back to the reception and catergoricley told them the room was not suitable and were prepared to leave, the attitude of the reception staff was unbelievable absolutely no apology, complete indifference to our problem, room 316 key was pushed at us, off we went and this one was ok although right on the main access road and within arms length of the pavement, we moved in and that night was so quiet it was bliss, Please remember floors 5, 6, 7 have some attic rooms with sloping ceilings, the bar/entertainment room does not close till 2 am noise till at least 2.30pm, the food was nothing special great if you like pork, salads basic, SOUP great, catering staff Great, pool ok, indoor pool and spar OK, Entertainment was terrible, mostly dancing displays by hotel "entertainers" , some sort of bingo, entertaiments bar very dark and drab sit in rows like in a theatre/cinema, Overall opinion, Management doesn't care, kids left by parents to run wild, football/drunks behaving like animals, if you want a proper holiday somewhere to relax and have a decent nights sleep, DON'T BOOK HERE, you have been warned!!!!
