We got back from here about a week ago and had a great time. We stayed all inclusive and for 7 days, and it was a great holiday.
The rooms were ok, not brilliant, but decent enough. The only downsides were the size and the cleanliness, it was clean enough, but we have quite high standards and it could have been cleaner. From what I could see in some of the other rooms whilst walking through, there are bigger rooms, but ours barely had enough space for the furniture in it, although the bathroom was relatively spacious.
As for the rest of the hotel, I'd say it was definitely 4 star quality and a great place for families to stay. It has some great entertainment for children, our daughter is only 2, so didn't partake in the daily activities during the day, as she's too young, but she did take part in the nightly ones. The nightly activities are balloon modelling, face painting and the mini disco. These are all excellent, made more so by the staff, who were great at dancing, especially the main guy, who also did the bingo, and entertained everyone throughout the day. Our daughter especially loved the mini disco, which consisted of 3 clowns dancing on the stage with actions that the children copied. Our daughter loved copying the actions every night, and got really involved. She loved it so much that we bought the DVD of it that they sell, and she's still watching it and listening to the CD every day (only 15 euros, good value for the use she's getting out of it).
The pools were also good, there were a total of 5 or so, with 1 indoor. Due to the brilliant weather, we only used the outdoor ones. People have said they're not clean, but they seemed to be to me, and they pumped it full of 'chlorine' every night to purify it all. There was a great little pool for kids there that our daughter spent most of the time in, and there are 2 bigger pools, one of which sometimes has some entertainment in (we saw the main entertainer doing some dancing which looked good fun).
There's also the bar and restaurant, which made the all inclusive part of our holiday worth it. The restaurant isn't a Michelin star one, it just has a buffet with different types of food each day. There's plenty of it though, constantly being brought out, so always nice and fresh and hot. There's loads of time to come in, and we saw people coming through the door after it had closed, the management still welcoming them. There was a wide variety of food including pizza, pork, chicken, chips, potatoes, salad, cake, donuts and ice cream, and that really is just a small taster of the food on offer. There was also wine, cava, beer and soft drinks freely flowing, even at breakfast (yes, people were having cava at breakfast).
The bar was great too, everything you could want, and most of it was on the all inclusive. Even if it wasn't on the all inclusive, it was heavily discounted for all inclusive guests, and it was easy to see what was all inclusive and not from the menus. The staff were also happy to help, and there was beer, shots, soft drinks, water, ice cream and snacks (pizza, chips, sandwiches) all on the all inclusive which we took advantage of.
The location is great in our opinion, people say it's 10 minutes from the beach and town, and it is, but with such lovely weather, the walk is nice to do (although it is hard with the heat). Port Aventura is a 20 minute walk away, meaning we could walk back for dinner each day, and although the theme park is not great for children, our daughter had a great time on the 4 or so rides she could go on.
Finally there are the staff. Apart from one grumpy maid who clearly had ideas above her station, they were excellent. They were always smiling, happy to help, serving all the time, and even letting things go (we got some water bottles outside of all inclusive hours). The entertaining staff were great too, like I said above, we were never able to stay up for the late shows they put on, as the mini disco excitement meant our daughter was falling asleep. However we were able to hear 2 or 3 sound checks, and they sounded great, it was a shame we missed them.
All in all, this is great if you're all inclusive. I'd definitely urge you to spend the extra money and go all in, because it really is all inclusive. Food and drink is always available and it's all for free. It has lots of activities and is near the town and beach, it is a bit 'Benidorm', but if you're going to Salou, that's what you should expect. If you hate the Benidorm type of holiday, the saving grace of Salou is Port Aventura, and that's only 20 minutes from this hotel. So if you're a family, it's definitely worth it, but do go all inclusive.
Apparently the top floor rooms are more spacious, and according to other reviews have a bigger balco...
