I spent a week here at Easter with my husband and children aged 6 and almost 2 and we loved it. There is so much for the children to do, they have a play area, lots of activities including cake decorating, making things and a childrens luchtime.
The restaurant is lovely and there is a great choice of really good food. The snack bar is also open in the afternoons and evenings which is ideal if you miss dinner as we did one day when we went to Barcelona.
The rooms were really clean, floors were mopped, towels changed and beds made. The balconies are not very big but we dont tend to use them much anyway so it didnt cause us a problem.
Would reccomend catching a train to Barcelona as the trip takes you along the coast, really nice views of sea and beaches. Port Aventura was really good although a bit expensive. The hotel can provide you with a picnic if you are going out for the day which saves money.
All really enjoyed it and would definately reccomend this hotel!

We, (37, 36, and 3yrs) went for a week all inclusive after doing some research on this place, and it really paid off. Good rooms, though don't ever try squeezing 2 kids in! Our biggest worry was the quality of the food. We eat out alot and can be fussy, but have to say it was very good. Always a choice, fresh and tasty. Drinks good as well. An excellent family orientated hotel with excellent entertainment staff and lots for even a 3yr old to do. People seem to realise that and I witnessed no drunken or loutish behaviour, just people relaxing and enjoying themselves. Don't go if you want to drink on to 4am though! We will be back.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review, the rooms would fit 4 however with full occupancy you find it tight as you have explained. The hotel does offer larger spacious 2 bedroom apartments on all inclusive to offer the larger families another option.
The hotel does tries very hard to monitor customers to how much they are drinking and if they are seen to becoming drunk then there alcohol is stopped
As you have stated this is a family hotel and everything stops at 00.00 to try control noise levels in the hotel
Thank you for your comments with regards to the food
From all at the Hotel we hope to see you again in the near future

Having read through a number of reviews on the Villa Marina Hotel it is sometimes difficult to raise new comments, anyhow here goes, we found the hotel very clean and maintained to a very high standard both in public areas and in the rooms. The rooms were cleaned every day when fresh towels were supplied if required.

We were in the hotel for a week in May 2009 and for the first few days the food was the best I have came across in any 3 star hotel in Spain, however something must have changed in the second half of our holiday and standards of quality and choice appeared to drop and we found the food very bland and tasteless, not a problem as there was always something available, possibly the hotel is a victim of its own very high standards.

The bar service was very quick and efficient and when the staff noticed there was a queue building up another member of staff would move behind the bar to help serve drinks and holidaymakers were directed to join other queue, a very slick operation from staff.
All staff we came in contact with were extremely helpful and friendly and any request was carried out at the first opportunity and always with a smile, quite frankly the staff at the Villa Marina Club must be the best I have came across in any hotel in Spain. Many other holidaymakers we met were on their third and fourth visit to the hotel which backs up my observations.

The pool bar was open until 10:30pm for pizza, hotdogs, burgers & chips. An amusing sight throughout the day and evening was the continual procession of children of all ages making their way to the pool bar for ice cream where each was made to feel very special by the bar staff in attendance.

One particular excellent amenity was the free hotel mini-bus into Salou and return, this ran in the morning and late afternoon, for those who wanted a bit of exercise 20 minutes took you down to the beach & harbour and 35 minutes took you into the centre of Salou and that was at normal walking pace.

Evening entertainment in the hotel was good, with a quiz and bingo each night prior to the main entertainment and before the quiz & bingo there was entertainment for the children from the very hard working entertainment team.

There were two pools at different parts of the hotel grounds but the jewel in the crown was the adults only roof top solarium with two Jacuzzis, unfortunately we were in the hotel two days before we learned of its existence, there were a many dials, knobs and buttons on the Jacuzzis but no instructions, I did mention it and it is being attended to as there is still work ongoing to complete the area which will include a bar.

The Villa Marina is a really great centre for those with children and I would recommended it to any family, however it may be just a bit too noisy during the height of summer for those without children. The only problem that we encountered and it is not one of the hotel’s making was the very high prices in many parts of the resort, without careful monitoring Salou and Spain will be taken of as a holiday destination for UK holidaymakers.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review, please accept our sincere apologies about the food this will be looked in to with the chef to see what happened as the standard should not slip at any point.
The new roof top solarium has added that something special to the hotel and will be even better once we start opening on an evening with the bar just for the adults (High Season) I am sorry you did not know about it till a couple of days in to your stay.
Thank you for all your comments and giving potential customers your opinion of the hotel.
From all at the Hotel we hope to see you again in the near future

hotel was much better than i expected, room was a bit small but quite modern + very clean. was cleaned every day to a high standard with clean towels provided. food was very nice with a good selection to choose from. i put 1 stone on in 1 week cos kept goin back for more. bar was quick to serve, beer was good. entertainment was a bit too much like butlins for our liking but they tried hard. pool bar serves food til late like pizza, burgers, hotdogs etc. internet access 1 euro for 10 mins. the only thing that was wrong with this hotel was the majority of the other british tourists. typical rude and ignorant, complaining that some staff cant understand every word they say.(ITS IN SPAIN DUMMIES) as the week went on the brits became more scummier as the cheap price would attract them. i`m not snobby in any respect but i felt embarassed at times by the lack of manners. some were ok tho. might have just been the week we went. my 2 year old enjoyed it.
overall very good hotel that i would recommend to anyone. i would go back there in a few years definatly.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review, please accept our apologies that our entertainment was not for you as we do try to ensure we are offering something for everyone to enjoy.
The hotel is open to the UK market and cannot pick and choose our customers, we treat everyone the same and welcome everyone to the hotel, if we do have any problems we do have staff to deal with it in a professional manner as the hotel does not accept and bad behavior I hope this did not cause you too much disturbance to your holiday
Thank you for all your comments

I was quite concerned when I read the reviews on here about going to this Hotel.
Had a mini break here from 5th to 9th May, and looking to book again. The staff are extremely dilligent, Iverno guest relations manager is fantastic at his job, extremely helpfull and is obviously following in Tiego's footsteps, good luck Tiego on your new job, I'm sure you will be sadly missed. The rooms are more than adequote, clean and comfortable, admittedley there were only 2 of us but a 3rd bed would not have been in the way.
The food? Still trying to loose the weight I put on whilst there!! Pigged out a bit as it was very tasty and more than enough choice for anyones taste buds-check local cafe prices to see what a good deal you are getting!!
Free Bus into Salou is very helpfull for those less able to do the 30 min walk, 15 mins to the beach front-on the flat- then a beautifull walk along the beach front into the centre. Do try and do this at night as the fountains are lit up and dancing, it is amazing, extremely clean and pleasant.
Entertainment in the hotel is quite good, quiz nightly-managed to win a bottle of Cava-Bingo, shows on occasion. Thursday evening the hypnotist appeared, only one fake on stage and he busted her, we laughed so much our ribs hurt. Fantastic entertainment and I definately want to see that again. Daytime activities available, but we were too busy on the roof top solorium sunning ourselves and relaxing in one of the 2 jaccuzzis-adults only and totally relaxing-no bar as yet but the exercise is needed to get your drinks from downstairs!!!!!!!! Wish I was sat there now.
OK so it would be hectic in high season, not my cup of tea really, it was average when we were there, we met some really nice people, and sat chatting on the terrace most evenings. I do like the rule of the bar closing at 12am and the terrace being cleared by 12.30am as it is a FAMILY hotel. Alcohol is not available until 12pm-12 hours drinking availability is enough for anyone really. The red wine at meal times comes highly reccommended-sure he drank enough of it!!
The Manageress is extremely helpfull and commited to her job, refreshing to see.
The dining room staff work very hard and are not helped when rude guests place their dirty plates on clean tables, the facility is available to put them on a trolley-yes you are on holiday but surely you wouldn't behave like that at home! Everyone is quick enough to go to the buffet to get their food, which is plentifull with enough choices.
Bar staff are again helpfull and work hard, snack bar food is perfect for the little ones, fish fingers, hot dogs, burgers etc, and the big ones. Ice-cream was available constantly, tea coffee etc to, with some nice biscuits in the afternoon, just in case you are peckish!! Desserts were a bit mundane which in my case was no bad thing, may have needed an extra seat on plane home.
We paid £150 for a 4 night break from Bournemouth, we arrived early and got our wristbands straight away allowing us to have breakfast, very impressed with that, our room was ready at 12.30pm so certainly no complaints there.
Some guests arrived on our departure day and managed to knock a table top off on the terrace, they moved but didn't have the decency to report it. Worried it may injur a small child or break someones toes I mentioned it to the manageress, it was removed immediately to be repaired. We noticed a leak in our room sink, mentioned it to Tiego and it was repaired straight away, considering this was 8pm I am extremely impressed. Unless staff are told about problems that may arise they can not rectify anything.
There are a lack of toilet facilities and I can imagine it would be hectic at full capacity, but we all have a loo in our rooms, and they are close to all ammenities really-maybe a bit of a pain to some. Disabled facilities are good, and as the hotel is on a flat walk to the beach extremely suitable for wheelchair users.
Newspapers available in reception daily, and Fab offer when we were there for 2 days in Port Aventura for the price of one. Taking the grandaughter next time to take advantage of it!
Your money does NOT go far in Spain, change booths in Salou were offering 1.11 euro's to £. Great rate so shop around. We had one drink out, a mug of tea and pint of coke, 5euros, almost £5 dependant on rate you get. Shows what great value for money the hotel is, packed lunches available if booked the night before. Kettles and irons available for just a deposit, found this out a bit too late but know for next time.
If flying low cost then do book suitcases before you leave, £10 each way with ryanair, 20 euros 1 way back if you buy too much duty free. Supermarket at back of hotel for those things you may have forgotten, remember Spain can be a lot dearer than here.
Many thanks to all at Hotel Villa Marina Club for a fantastic relaxing break, hope to see you all soon.
