Would really recommend Mrs Murphy`s Restaurant !!
Stayed at the Golf Beach for 5 nights at the end of September. This hotel is amazing value for money therefore those who have made comments about the lack of air con and poor breakfast need to remember that you get what you pay for - if this hotel had air con, it would be a 3 star and cost twice as much!!
The hotel is a 3 minute walk from the beach and a number of restaurants - great location away from the bustling centre with many bars (mainly Irish) and noise.
The rooms are basic however spotlessly clean and a great powerful shower. Towels are changed every other day. Rooms do have a ceiling fan which did take the edge off the heat at night and fans are available to hire, aswell as loads of other things, should you need them.
From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome - this is a very close-knit hotel and everyone seemed chirpy and hospitable all of the time.
If I had one criticism, and this is why I gave 4 stars and not 5, is the hotel has internet access, which is great, however the chairs provided to use were awful - damp and smelly - I brought a chair in from outside to use so problem solved however this was very unpleasant and needs to be addressed.
Overall, if you're looking for a hotel to just use as a base to sleep and shower, book the Golf Beach - you can't beat this little friendly hotel for great value.

just returned from a 5 day stay at the golf beach
the hotel belies its 2 star rating as it is without doubt
the cleanest friendliest hotel in which we have ever stayed
all the rooms have good size balconies and air con is in the
way of a ceiling fan, if this not sufficient you can hire fans for
11 euro a week, the room temperature when we were there
was quite cool but we did leave the balcony door open
being a 2 star hotel you don't get a TV in your room or tea/coffee
machines, but there is sky / setanta in the bar area and you can
purchase food and hot drinks from 10am till 12pm.
breakfast is very basic cereal, toast, ham, salami tea and coffee
this is served 7.30 till 10, from 10 you can buy an all day cooked
breakfast and plenty of other cooked food, all of excellent quality.
the bar in the hotel is open 24 hours,
the hotel is run by peter who is an excellent host the best that we
have ever come across he will point you in the right direction to all
the good restaurants etc.
this hotel is ABSOLUTELY SPOTLESS and i recommend to everybody
who wants to stay on the quieter side of santa ponsa. the hotel is
situated about 3 minutes walk to the beech and 5 minutes to the bars
most of which seem the be Irish so there is lots of quality entertainment
and fun.

I have been to Santa Ponsa eight times now, 5 with my parents and siblings, so I have been to some of the best hotels in the resort (Hesperia, Pionero, Punta Del Mar etc). However, my boyfriend and I had booked a cheapy last min deal and we decided upon the Golf Beach. I cannot praise it enough and I have visited some of the more luxurious hotels. It is a 2 star but the hotel is absolutely spotless, the rooms are quite big with comfy beds and a decent size balcony. The pool area again is spotless, loads of sun loungers considering and a fair size pool which runs shallow to deep so it caters for kids also. Breakfast is very simple, continental, but for 2 stars you can't fault it. The three gents, esp Peter, who run the hotel are so nice and approachable if you need any info! And chatty! Also their is a nice bar area that serves great grub with a pool table and shows sky digital for all us football fanatics who can't do without sky sports news for a week! The only marginal fault is there is no air conditioning but I think you are able to hire fans from reception. Overall, I thought it was great and I recommend it to anyone. Families, couples, massive groups of friends or single travellers. Just a fab wee hotel!

We stayed at the Golf beach hotel for just under a week and had an very good experience. The staff are brilliant and very chatty as other reviewers have stated, but i barely slept at all until we hired a fan. Our room had a ceiling fan but despite this and the fan, we were still too hot and barely spent a minute more than we had to in the room. The breakfast was basic but the hotel bar made up for it as it had a wonderful lunchtime menu and choice of drinks. I particularly enjoyed the pool and the location of the hotel is excellent. On the whole, a wonderful place, but better in cooler weather i think!
