This is the first time we have been to Majorca and the last. The hotel was a nice place, but they had so many people crammed into one place. The hotel was not up to full capacity but lacked land. We also found that some of the children were just dumped at the pool to do as they pleased and they were fairly annoying.

The local beach was not that clean, but did have life guards. Also, the boat trip we decided to go on was very expensive, crammed and took us to a tiny bay that was full of people and the water was smelly, yuk. (Formentor)

The cleaning was not thorough and only fair at best, also it was a bit hit and miss as to whether the room was cleaned at all. A good tip if you have children who sleep in the afternoons, is to tell reception and they then request your room is cleaned in the morning, if the cleaner gets time!!!!!!

A plus point were the children's facilities that were very good: a small football pitch, a children's pool with slides and a play area including a bouncy castle. Also, the evening shows for the kids were fun and a mini disco that could be very funny at times. Didn't use the kids club, but that looked fun too.

The food in the restaurant was also nice, with quite a lot of variety at night, and because we went half board plus all the drinks were included with our meal.

me and my husband and two children and my inlaws stayed at the viva blue last year and absolutley loved it ! so much so we are going back august 2008. Its the cleanset accomadation we have ever stayed in. The staff are all so friendly and we loved the idea of spending time with scandanavians, danish, germans, we all got on well, the children mixed in well and learnt experiences from chlidren from other countries. We much prefered them to some of all english hotels we have stayed in the past !!! The situe of the hotel is fab as well evevything in walking distance. we would definatley recommend tex mex restaraunt. also pepes bar staff there are very friendly and good food. so if you are looking for a good family holiday this is ideal. Also we ate in the hotel alot and food was fab there as well having theme nights a coule of times a week.

“Fantastic Viva Blue!”

Barrow-in-Furness

Having returned from the Viva Blue last summer we felt the need to write a review as we always find other reviews so helpful and informative we hope this may be of some use to anyone hoping to travel to Northern Majorca. We booked the Viva Blue directly by telephone with Eclipse who are part of First Choice. Travelling as a family of 3 we decided to pre-book a two day football course for our 13 year old son. He thoroughly enjoyed this - the coaches were excellent with the children - of all ages - they were escorted from the Hotel by coach to 'The Alcudia Football Stadium' from 9am to 1pm and the coaches laid on a presentation evening with a quiz and they even organised for the children to have the chance to see a Friendly between Majorca V Bayern Munich.

The hotel itself was fabulous, from the minute we arrived we felt totally relaxed in such lovely surroundings. Very comfy sun beds and not too much of an early morning rush for them - I usually got 3 no problem at 9.00am - There are 3 pools to choose from and a small one for toddlers. The entertainments team worked incredibly hard all day doing shows, events and sporting activities for all ages. Needless to say my son was kept busy with lots of organised sport - Football, basketball, and volleyball were all played on a purpose built pitch. Followed by all the water polo and water volley ball - also great entertainment if you were watching it! There was even a small putting green. The snack bar at the pool was very reasonable and all the staff from the reception to the waiters and room maids were ever so friendly and professional whilst going about their business - we were very impressed with the whole hotel - although we did not have a meal apart from the snack bar as we like to try the local restaurants - the food looked lovely and they had special themed evenings. The cooking facilities in the self catering apartment were more than adequate with a cooker and microwave and plenty of the usual kitchen equipment. we took our own travel kettle as from other reviews we were warned there was not one in room. The air con was very good and the rooms very spacious .

The hotel is in a good location , being only a five minute walk across the road to the lovely beach and also around the corner to quite a good choice of bars and restaurants. 'The Swan' British pub was quite a laugh with hardworking Paul who kept the adults and children amused with his witty comments and was good with the children - there are family quizzes and bingo. There is a Crepe stall attached too. Also the 'George and Dragon' - turn right from hotel and right after the information place on the corner - they sell a lovely pint of estrella and plenty of football on the sky tv's for anyone missing it. Another good restaurant with live music is 'Oasis' - found on the main road half way up - Left at main road fromhotel. The weekly market also takes place on Mondays and is ideal for those last minute gifts.

Although Playa de Muro is a lot smaller than its neigbouring resorts there is probably enough here to keep you entertained for a week. There are plenty of options to take to visit Alcudia - one day we walked along the beach - it took 45 minutes - So the next time we took a taxi - approximately 9 euros and from the centre of Alcudia we wandered up to the port which was about another mile or so and we preferred this area for eating and drinking - it was lovely and had a more authentic feel than the earlier part of Alcudia. A little gem of a bar we found was 'Bamboo' and the people are very welcoming - it also has a pool table and darts - so the children are amused while the drinks were also very cheap.
We used the bus which runs just on main road outside the hotel and travelled into C'an Picafort approx 5euros for all 3 of us - this was a nice resort with a few different shops to choose from. The Viva Blue is probably the best hotel we have stayed in and definitely worthy of it's 4 Stars - Could have stayed for longer than the fornight, a truly wonderful holiday!

“Lovely holiday at the Viva Blue”

Viva Blue

27 May 2008

We have just returned from a lovely 7 night holiday at the Viva Blue Hotel.

Hotel
Excellent hotel with very good facilities. The rooms include a mini kitchen, large lounge, good size bedroom and large bathroom. I believe all the rooms have balconys and are cleaned 5 days a week.

The main pool is split over two levels (one deep) and there is a babies pool in addition to a childrens pool with loads of stuff for the kids to play on.

There is a good kids area with a bouncy castle, trampolene, amusements and the kids club seemed excellent in keeping the kids happy with lots of daily and evening entertainment.

Toilets
The toilets on site were the best I have ever seen (apart from the states) - always clean and disabled ones too in reception and in the poolside restaurant.

Food
We chose the half board with drinks option as we were travelling with elderly parents. There was always a good range of food available in the morning buffet - pancakes, fruit, cereals, hot cooked breakfasts, breads, meats, cheeses and cakes etc. The evening buffet always had a salads, cold and hot meats, pasta, speciality stews, fresh fish, soup, loads of cakes, ice cream etc... I would say that if you love eating out and not getting up to get your own food then this is not the place for you to eat and there are quite a few restaurants along the main street of Muro. The drinks option was great as these were served by the staff and included all local options including bottles of wine etc.

Staff
The staff at the hotel were wonderful - always helpful and nice to talk to. Maria in the restaurant was dead funny !!

Muro
Muro itself is just one long street with a few bars, restaurants and supermarkets. The beach has direct access from the road - there is no walkway along the beach though so if you like walking along the beach then its no good for you and puerto pollencia would be better. To be honest I prefer puerto pollencia as like the cafe/restaurant life there, walking along the promonade and people watching.

All in all the hotel was lovely and the service was excellent. I personally prefer puerto pollencia to Muro but couldn't fault anything else ...

We had a fantastic honeymoon at the Viva Blue. The staff was lovely to us, very accomodating and helpful. The rooms were clean and the food was fanastic. The halfboard option was perfect for us since we wanted to go out and hike and go on adventures during the day. It was really nice not to have to worry about where to have a fabulous three course meal (with a bottle of wine) every night when we got home.

There were a lot of children and it was a little disturbing how rude the other guests were to the staff. But we had a perfectly lovely stay, they even gave us a fruit basket and complimentary bottle of Cava when they learned it was our honeymoon.
