Just arrived back from a week at viva blue appts booked by first choice self catering, the hotel was brilliant families will not be let down by this hotel as there is entertainment throughout the day and night for children and teenagers there are alot of swedish and german people in this hotel who do tend to get the best rooms but other than that there are no complaints, we ate at the hotel only at dinner times as we went out at night however the food was good you could also take it away to eat rnd the pool or in your room as you are given takeaway boxes which is handy, the hotel is very clean maids are exellent they dont arrive to early either, the resort is more for families and older couples as two of us went at 19 and we thought it was a bit to quiet however there are a few bars and restaurants i would reccomend this hotel.

“viva blue very clean”

We have just returned from our holiday in Majorca and having read everyone else’s reviews I thought I would write one in return.

We found the Viva Blue Apartments nice, very clean, a little basic for a 4 *, but contains everything needed for an enjoyable self catering holiday (except a kettle), walls are very thin and I have to say that I struggled to get a good nights sleep as I found it difficult to sleep through next doors snoring…

We were not impressed with having to wait 2 hours for our room to be made up on arrival, but it gave us a chance to have a look around and to sample the food at the pool side snack bar. This did a range of pizza’s, toastie’s and baguettes and was very nice.

The pool areas were nice, very clean and I liked the fact that you got cushions for the lounger’s. we had no problems getting loungers even at 11am probably because of the time of year as I can see that getting very busy at peak times.

We did not eat at the hotel restaurant or sample any of the entertainment, so I cannot comment on that. We ventured out of the hotel complex at night for food and wnet through the Muro strip and never had a bad meal. Two of the best we found was the pizzeria Ola right next to the hotel, it did beautiful pork and steak fillets with pepper sauces which were lovely (we went back 3 times), and an Indian called New Deli 2, if you turn right at the pizzeria above instead of left down the main strip. The Indian was better than any that we have had at home.

Not much entertainment but restaurant Oasis on the main strip have live bands on Elvis impersonators, ABBA tributes which had everyone up out of their seats dancing. Over the road from that a cocktail bar which did lovely cocktails in some very unusual glasses and containers, the best we saw being a volcano!

The beach was lovely, quite busy and plenty of snack bars and drinks places along it. The road to cross is not really that busy and there are places with crossings you can use.

There is a small train that runs through Muro and to a few other resorts for only 2.5 euros each, we walked up to the next resort which had a few shops, bars and restaurants, and Brits for that matter and then got the train back, which stopped right outside the hotel…

All in all a nice holiday, hotel very clean, rooms not bad and we had a nice time.

We loved beeing at Viva Blue. The hotel have everything you need, entertainment was for all the family, our 6 year loved beeing in the pool, and he was save in the garden. Our 14 year old , a girl ,relaxed in the sun, and was also playing in the pool, the evening entertainment was for all the family, the food at the hotel restaurant was good. The staff was helpful and the hotel was clean, clean, clean.
The hotel is on Playa de Muro a little town near Port Alcudia, it takes 5 minutes to walk to the beach and 10 minutes to drive to Port Alcudia, we had a car, but there is a bus stop not far from the Hotel that goes to Port Alcudia
We would love to go back to Viva Blue. It was a perfect holiday hotel.

I wanted to write this review as I relied on the opinions on this website before booking and felt it was only fair that I repaid the effort previous visitors had gone to in helping future visitors make their choice.

Initially we chose this hotel cos we had been last year to their hotel in Menorca and liked the chain and their set up. We knew we wanted to go to Majorca this year and so had a choice of ta number of properties (see their website www.hotelsviva.com), we then based our choice pretty much on the reviews on this site.

We travelled with friends who relied on our judgement, they booked through First Choice, the hotel having no rooms left direct.

First I really don't like the resort, it's just a strip running down from Alcudia which itself is not a patch on Puerto Pollensa. However to bo fair we didn't wander out that much, we either stayed round the hotel or drove.

The hotel is great, apart from the area round the pool which could have down with a good scrub down,it is kept spotless even down to daily polishing of the street lights! The grounds are immaculate with established plants including lime and pomegrante trees.

Like their other properties it is arranged in separate blocks, so no noise of people working past your room at night to get to bar/reception/restaurant.

There are 2 main restaurants, one buffet the other barbeque, you can buy tickets for half board when you get to hotel. Food is good with a decent selection of Mallorcan/Spanish wines. Best bit is a small on site shop that compares well with the nearby spar and has a bread oven for croissants and baguettes on a morning, you need to get there early for doughnuts. San Miguel 60 cents a can, much cheaper than at the bar.

No ned to get up early for beds, although you still need to be down 8ish for a choice and stay with your beds till 9.30 cos till then the pool boy removes which is entertainment in itself - there's a man with job satisfaction! You can hire pool towels from reception for 10$ each returned at end of hols and changed 3x a week.

Rooms ok but not huge, enough for a hot holiday though, ask for pool view if poss, not aware however of any on a main road so no real bad ones.

Guest are very mixed, lots of scandanavians, fins icelandic etc, all seemed to speak such good english, which had the english kids amazed. I'd say brits were 15% kids still had no problems with finding friends although don't ever rely on the fact just cos someone is wearing english footie shirt they are a brit!

Finally entertainment. 7 on site entertainers who organise activities every hour or so and who the kids adored, no all day club if that's what you are looking for. Evening shows generally rough, but aren't they always! Kids were enthralled and we just retired to our balcony and waoted for the music to finish and he kids to return cos it's a secure site they could only get out through main doors. Just depends what you want on an evening.

Finally found the staff extremely helpful starting with the fact that although we booked seperately from our friends, I'd emailed and asked for rooms near and we were put next door to them.

Hope this review moves Viva Blue up the list of hotels in Muro cos it certainly desrves to be higher.

“Great hotel, would go back”

Viva Blue

30 Aug 2006

Just returned from a week at the Viva Blue, and I'm pleased to say we had a lovely time. A family of four with two sons aged 9 and 6, found the hotel clean, and generally well equipped. The apartment was fine with enough room to accommodate us comfortably, although we didn't spend much time there. Like the previous reviewer said, everything you needed was there except the kettle!! Would recommend the welcome pack. From our apartment balcony we could view most of the pool complex which gave us the flexibility to allow the children some freedom. The pool area was great and in late August there was no problem re: sun loungers, there was plenty of them and enough parasols to give you some choice, whether you fancied sun or shade! The pool has 3 large sections, deep, not so deep and shallow, which was great for everyone, it was very clean and the water was warm enough.
I would have to agree with the previous reviewer that while the staff in the main were very curteous and helpful there were a couple who must have missed the last workshop in the the customer relations training! E.,g. being told by one waiter at 10.50pm that the kitchen was closed and no more food could be ordered, even though it was just ice cream deserts (having already been told by him the kitchen closes at 11pm) and then being served at 11.15 by another waitress who didn't seem bothered at all!
The real problem with this hotel in our opinion is the lack of entertainment - during the day it is ok but in the evening it falls apart, and as a result many of the guests go off site. Which is a real shame because the entertainment team work hard but sadly they just aren't very good. The Flying team are guest entertainers and they are better - but the show generally only lasts an hour or so, followed by a stupid competition just to fill out the time. If most people like us are paying circa £800 for their holiday accommodation for 1 week then I think we deserve to have a great show in the evenings to relax unwind and socialise with other holidaymakers. So wake up Viva! While it may seem cosy to be in bed by 11pm most of us would like to be letting our hair down a little more til midnight.
No complaints on the food front, we had bed & breakfast and enjoyed our bacon & eggs everyday, and pancakes! We ate in the restaurant 1 or 2 evenings but would recommend a local entertainment bar ( don't know the name but they had a bloomin' great whale in the garden for the kids to play on - & the fish & chips was geat! Abba show wasn't bad either)
So for us a definite thumbs up, but would love to see a bit more effort put into keeping guests entertained in the evenings.
Would definitely stay in another Viva elsewhere or go back to Playa de mruro.
