We have just returned from a week at the Viva Blue in Playa del Muro, Majorca.
We went as a group of 11 in four apartments and I emailed the hotel direct only four days before we left to request that we be placed close together. I wasn't expecting miracles, but we had four apartments all in a row on the ground floor - fantastic!
The apartments are very clean, not huge, but big enough for 4 adults. Two downsides: no kettle (not a good idea for the english people!) and the hairdryer is crap, so take your own!!
The maid service is very good and the whole hotel area is kept immaculate at all times.
The swimming pools are great and there was never any problems getting sunbeds, although we did go at the end of the season, so it may be busier during peak times.
We didn't eat at the hotel at all as we found their prices a bit steep. But what we did see looked very nice and plenty of it!
The snack bar has a huge selection of food, both to eat by the pools or to take away, but some members of staff are very rude and could do with a course in manners!! They seem to have a dislike of the english and make no secret of it!
Now the downsides:
The walls in the apartments are VERY thin and german and swedish people seem to get up very early in the morning (usually around 6am) and make no effort to keep the noise down whatsoever, it was driving us all mad by the end of the week.
The entertainment on site is rubbish, both in the day and at night. We gave up on it every day, they didn't have a clue. A quiz that should have taken 30 minutes took about 3 hours, due to the complete incompetance of the staff and attempting to do it in three different languages!! Venture out where the entertainment is much better.
Playa Del Muro is a good 40 minute walk from Alcudia, but taxis are cheap and are a much better option. there isn't much of a town in Playa del muro, but there is enough to do if you look hard enough.
the beaches are fantastic, shallow waters and white sand - bliss. this is where we spent most of our time.
And lastly, take plenty of mosquito repellant or risk being bitten to death. It is unbelievable. The flies are a bit of a pain too and I was glad to be home away from them all!!
If you want a quiet holiday, surrounded by german and swedish rude people with hundreds of screaming kids, this is the place for you!!

Just arrived back from a week at viva blue appts booked by first choice self catering, the hotel was brilliant families will not be let down by this hotel as there is entertainment throughout the day and night for children and teenagers there are alot of swedish and german people in this hotel who do tend to get the best rooms but other than that there are no complaints, we ate at the hotel only at dinner times as we went out at night however the food was good you could also take it away to eat rnd the pool or in your room as you are given takeaway boxes which is handy, the hotel is very clean maids are exellent they dont arrive to early either, the resort is more for families and older couples as two of us went at 19 and we thought it was a bit to quiet however there are a few bars and restaurants i would reccomend this hotel.

We have just returned from our holiday in Majorca and having read everyone else’s reviews I thought I would write one in return.
We found the Viva Blue Apartments nice, very clean, a little basic for a 4 *, but contains everything needed for an enjoyable self catering holiday (except a kettle), walls are very thin and I have to say that I struggled to get a good nights sleep as I found it difficult to sleep through next doors snoring…
We were not impressed with having to wait 2 hours for our room to be made up on arrival, but it gave us a chance to have a look around and to sample the food at the pool side snack bar. This did a range of pizza’s, toastie’s and baguettes and was very nice.
The pool areas were nice, very clean and I liked the fact that you got cushions for the lounger’s. we had no problems getting loungers even at 11am probably because of the time of year as I can see that getting very busy at peak times.
We did not eat at the hotel restaurant or sample any of the entertainment, so I cannot comment on that. We ventured out of the hotel complex at night for food and wnet through the Muro strip and never had a bad meal. Two of the best we found was the pizzeria Ola right next to the hotel, it did beautiful pork and steak fillets with pepper sauces which were lovely (we went back 3 times), and an Indian called New Deli 2, if you turn right at the pizzeria above instead of left down the main strip. The Indian was better than any that we have had at home.
Not much entertainment but restaurant Oasis on the main strip have live bands on Elvis impersonators, ABBA tributes which had everyone up out of their seats dancing. Over the road from that a cocktail bar which did lovely cocktails in some very unusual glasses and containers, the best we saw being a volcano!
The beach was lovely, quite busy and plenty of snack bars and drinks places along it. The road to cross is not really that busy and there are places with crossings you can use.
There is a small train that runs through Muro and to a few other resorts for only 2.5 euros each, we walked up to the next resort which had a few shops, bars and restaurants, and Brits for that matter and then got the train back, which stopped right outside the hotel…
All in all a nice holiday, hotel very clean, rooms not bad and we had a nice time.

We loved beeing at Viva Blue. The hotel have everything you need, entertainment was for all the family, our 6 year loved beeing in the pool, and he was save in the garden. Our 14 year old , a girl ,relaxed in the sun, and was also playing in the pool, the evening entertainment was for all the family, the food at the hotel restaurant was good. The staff was helpful and the hotel was clean, clean, clean.
The hotel is on Playa de Muro a little town near Port Alcudia, it takes 5 minutes to walk to the beach and 10 minutes to drive to Port Alcudia, we had a car, but there is a bus stop not far from the Hotel that goes to Port Alcudia
We would love to go back to Viva Blue. It was a perfect holiday hotel.
