We (me, wife and 3yr old daughter) just got back from 11 nights at the Continental Park. We booked the holiday mainly due to the fantastic reviews it was given from guests last year and because of the gold medal it was awarded.
Just a week before we due to go we get a letter along with our tickets from Thomson, stating that the hotel was nolonger exclusive to them, the entertainment was now hotel run and the kids club was now only 5 days a week. This was a major disapointment because all of these were the basis of the good reviews.
The entertainement was poor - the entertainers didnt have any drive or enthusiasm and didnt make too much of an effort to get people involved. the evening entertainment was poor too - most people avoided it . The supposedly professional acts were embarrasingly bad and Im no Simon Cowell.
The food is what is to be expected from a 3 star, basically chips, chips and more chips with a fish or meat dish to accompany.
What was good was the drinks were self service, so you could help your self to soft drinks, lager and wine - this was great no queing. For spirits you had to go to the bar and get served.
The hotel, from what was visible, to the public was spotless and the staff especially the receptionist were extremely friendly and helpful. The weather wasnt the best, not the hotel's fault i Know but there was nothing to keep every one occupied.
The location was great just under a 5 mintue walk to the fab beach. The sand is white and the sea was simply stunning, crystal clear blues and greens and very shallow, i could walk out a good hundred meters and i was still less than waist deep (i'm only 5'6"). The only down side to the beach is, there is an incredible busy road to cross, the are zebra crossings and pelican crossings but we all know how much attention the local motorists pay to those.
In all not bad holiday just very disappointed as we expected a lot more - we are also very disapointed with our tour operator making changings that had a big effect on our stay. I did feel a little sorry for the reps cos the were constantly bombarded with moaning and disgruntled customers. As i said it was disapointing not bad.
Oh one last moan - we booked a trip to marine land with our reps - it cost around 120 euros, when we got there the entrance fee was a little over 18 euros each and our daughter should should have been free. Yes i know they could argue the the bus fare but 80 odd euros difference is a big difference
