We returned at 3am this morning from the most beautiful holiday in Magic Life, Fuerteventura.
19th August 2012
I can thoroughly recommend this hotel, and these were the highlights:-
The food in the main buffet was the best we have ever had! Absolutely fantastic. The sheer variety and standard was outstanding. It was very easy to keep to a gluten and dairy free diet. (However, A la carte - not up to scratch which was quite surprising)
The service from the staff was, as you would expect from Magic Life - superb.
All areas - spotless.
We had no tummy bugs whatsoever.
We went on the Thomson Fuerteventura Culture trip which was brilliant. (Thomson are Exemplary.)
We have previously enjoyed Eygpt, but because of the change in government recently, felt insecure to return, so decided to try a change. This was, in fact, a very different experience:-
We couldn't snorkel as the sea was too rough, (and cold) but very beautiful, and ideal if you are a water sport enthusiast. The best for surfing I think you could find anywhere!
The climate was very changable - about ten degree's cooler than Egypt. The greatest difference being at night - you definitely need warmer evening clothes here. It was in fact quite chilly. The most notable difference was the wind, which made the heat of the day quite pleasant.
The beach is absolutely beautiful, and ideal for walking, or jogging. Getting down to the beach, via the steps is OK, but is an issue if you are scared of slipping, although there is a rope to hold on to.Care is required, and I don't think anyone with mobility issues would be able to manage them. The steps are quite steep near the bottom, so you need to go down in bare feet or something sensible. We were fine, and it is more than worthwhile once to get down there.
Unlike Egypt, there are no loungers on the beach, and no parasols. If you walk futher along the beach, there are loungers with shade. However, it cost 10 euros a day for two people, with a parasol. We have always taken this for granted, after receiving the service as part of an All Inclusive - so when the ranger came to ask for money it came as a bit of a shock!
Our room was everything we had hoped for, quiet, clean and with a lovely sea-view.
The aspects which could be improved:-
There was an issue with the amount of sunloungers available aroung the pool, under shade. I was surprised that at 7.30am I could not find two loungers under shade. The next morning I set off at 7am - before sunrise. Same.
After a four hour flight & transf er time ( 2 hours with airport wait), I would have preferred to be escorted to my allocated room.
Our Best Days:-
I would most definitely recommend booking a taxi from reception to Jandia - you can walk but its around a tricky headland, and the tide comes in about lunchtime, so you need to watch this. if you walk along the beach to Morro Jable there are some superb cafes along the shoreline, and they are absolutely charming. We loved this.
We also enjoyed the African Market on Thursday morning 9am-1pm. This is the real deal. Great fun and good to haggle. We found an English lady who'd obviously done a Shirley Valentine, and was making lovely sandels out of leather and cotten. Really nice.
If we had stayed longer we would have gone to the Botanical Gardens which we saw en-route back to the airport, but we were not aware of this.
The drinks at the hotel were very good indeed. You could ask for anything, and it was provided.
We love the Magic Life hotels, because the food is absolutely exceptional, and this was no different.
So, thank you Magic Life for a really beautiful holiday.
