Stayed 21September – 5 October 2011-10-12
SUMMARY - Spanish is not required German would be useful.
Good – Beach, Service, friendliness. No mosquitoes ants or cockroaches, plenty of lifts (4 for a 3 storey building - & they worked.
Not so good – packed lunches, lunch only in dining room, no snack bar in afternoon except cake, house flies around pool, almost exclusively German clients both in the hotel and Jandia as a whole, no English TV in room without paying extra. Air con in room didn’t work even after complaining.
Location – 15 minutes walk from the old town of Morro Jable – a bit further to the harbour – not much there. Most shops are in a strip across the road from the hotel. Chemist is opposite hotel in case you need one. 5 minutes (if you take it slowly) walk to the beach via the side gate next to the pool bar – listen for the birds on the walk to the beach. Tourist info office in Como shopping centre opposite hotel.
Main Bar – Helpful staff, plenty of them if it’s not on the all-inclusive list ask, as the inclusive bar list is not comprehensive. Some items that are in the bar are coffee, sherry and Campari mixers.
Dining room. Food good but repetitive, no themed nights, lunch is a cut down version of dinner, 2 seat tables arrange in long rows with no gaps – bit like a canteen, self service beer wine, soft drinks and water – don’t forget to fill your own water bottle up for during the day, service excellent.
Pools – 3 pools, 1 adult, 1 children’s, I adult/child’s with a Jacuzzi
Pool Bar/snack bar – Same comments as main bar, poor/no snacks, sandwiches available at 11:00am you get a choice, which you don’t, in a packed lunch. Can get sandwiches from the local supermarkets but a bit expensive.
Entertainment- evening professional acts 40% time very good. Animation team are low key both at night and in day. Bingo once a week.
Beach - Sand & lots of it – goes on for miles don’t forget it’s tidal. It doesn’t go out or come in far as the beach is fairly steep. Very young children should be closely supervised in the sea. There are some strong waves very close to the beach sometimes and then its not suitable for swimming for children – although teenagers will enjoy it.
Children – very few children in the hotel in October. It does have a children’s club & evening mini-disco at 8:30pm but not enough to run either when we were there. Has a playground.
Buses – stop almost outside hotel with timetable in bus shelter. No1 goes to the Capital. No5 to Costa Calma 2.5Euro each way. Yellow & blue buses with numbers starting with an L go north up the coast to the other hotel complexes in the coastal Jandia region
Radio – couldn’t pick up any English stations on either FM or MW
Trips – you can go by bus to Costa Calm on the bus (45mins) – not much there, just lots of hotels, very few bars or eating places, take own food and drink. Watch the tide as when it comes in it splits the beach in two.
Catamaran trip is OK but really just circles round the bay, lunch and all drinks included, 6 Euros extra for both the Banana & Speedboat. Didn’t go on any other trips as we’ve been to Fuerteventura before.
Duty Free – remember Fuerteventura is not in the EU so only 1L of spirits. Whisky, cheapest in Manchester duty free outbound 2*1L Teachers £18. Fuerteventura airport prices aren’t bad and you don’t have the ban on liquids problem nor the need to pack in your case. Take old plastic whisky bottles with you to decant Manchester or locally bought alcohol. It’s safer & lighter. Try the Spa supermarket up the hill in Morro Jable. http://g.co/maps/4d8b2
Aircraft- From Manchester on a Wednesday it was an Airbus A321 still in First Choice colours. First 4 rows are old Premium seats with extra legroom. Try to get these if you haven’t booked extra legroom seats. Easier if you use day before check in – free and Manchester with First Choice/ Thompson on a Thomson flight.
Rooms are either road view or pool view. No all pool view rooms can see the pool and only some can s...
