I stayed from 23/4/2012 - 30/4/12 with two female friends. We had a brilliant time! The rooms were clean and well appointed. The beds are comfortable enough and the bathroom was lovely. The pool area is lovely, and we didn't have any problem getting a good sunbed in the morning. The hotel does have a lot of Germans in it, but this is to be expected as it is a German hotel chain. However, we found the germans to be pleasant and polite throughout our stay, and did not have any of the 'problems' other reviewers have alluded to. There are also many french and dutch people at the hotel, so the hotel is very much multicultural. Do not go here if you like going to hotels filled with just English people!
The entertainment was good, we watched it most nights and found it to be fairly amusing. It is what you make of it! The staff do work very hard to make you laugh and keep you interested, so you have to give them credit.
The food is brilliant, with a wide range reflecting all the nationalities that stay at the hotel. There are different things on offer every night, and the food is always fresh and the chefs are friendly and work very hard to provide food of the highest quality. The food here was better than that of the food in two 4 star hotels i'd stayed in previously. The restaurant area is nice, and you are assigned a table at the start of your stay which is your table alone at dinner for the whole of your stay. This is quite nice, as you don't have to worry about finding a table and it makes the restaurant less 'canteen like' than other hotels i've stayed at. It also means you get to know the people around you, which is always nice. You can sit wherever you like at breakfast and dinner, though.
There is a wide range of drinks included in the all inclusive package, including a wide range of cocktails (alcoholic and non alcoholic) and a wide range of spirirts, including Gran Canarian specialties such as honey rum.
There's a good range of food at the pool bar at lunch, which meant that we didn't actually go into the restaurant at lunch for most of the week.
We had unbeatable weather all week round, with temperatures reaching 30 degrees!
The staff cannot be faulted at this hotel, they work very hard to meet all your requests. We requested two more pillows and more towels on our first night at the hotel, and they were in our room within an hour of us asking. The hotel has more than met all our expectations and we would definitely return again. We have had such a great week and wish we'd never had to leave.
The hotel is situated well, with a short work to the Yumbo Centre, which has many restaurant, bars and shops. The Yumbo Centre is the 'gay centre' of playa del ingles, but is by far better than the commercial centre, which is full of drunkards and rowdy clubs. The Yumbo Centre is also probably the place we felt safest out and about as 3 young (straight) girls on our own. We highly recommend visiting Ricky's Cabaret Bar for something a bit different, we all had our reservations about visiting as we had been recommended it ourselves, but we had a brilliant evening! Rickys cabaret bar is a drag bar, but the entertainment show the drags put on is second to none!
Highly recommend this hotel and resort to others!
We had a room in tower D on the 7th floor and found it to be very quiet, the higher up in the tower...
