We went as two couples to the Las Margaritas on Monday 26th March. The transport from the airport was really disappointing as we were left sitting on the coach for well over an hour without a rep explaining why as the driver was present and the coach full. One young girl almost fainted during the wait and the rep, when she did arrive, was more concerned in handing out invitations to the reps meeting the next day than making sure that she was alright. The rep did not accompany us on the coach. Our husbands did not have seats so were taken to the hotel by minibus arriving about 3/4 hour before we arrived with the cases. My husband spoke to the reception staff explaining the sitation and advising that he did not even have any euros to purchase a drink and they were extremely helpful and gave them both the AI wristbands therefore allowing them to get something to eat and drink. They were also given access to our rooms. In the confusion our friend left a bag on the minibus which held, apart from other items, his wallet and passports and the speed that this was dealt with was amazing. The receptionists smiled and put his mind at ease and the bag was returned. This was also down to the rep on board the minibus who realised who had left it and kept it safely.
The hotel is very nice but the rooms are a little tired. The beds unfortunately are quite low and are uncomfortable. The maids were extremely hard working and helpful and kept our room lovely and clean but the bathrooms showed signs of age and there were black damp marks and mould on the seals around the bath which was disappointing. The public areas of the hotel are very nice and kept clean and welcoming. The pool areas are very well kept as are the gardens. We tended to use the pool on the upper level as there are much more comfortable sun loungers there and also more sun as the lower pool has a lot of shade due to the palm trees.
The food was really nice and the dining room staff really helpful and hard working. There was so much choice that I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed with it. I agree with other reviewers that it is not always as hot as it could be but there is a microwave at the back of the dining room for anyone who wishes to use it. There is plenty to drink and apart from cocktails this is on a help yourself basis. The snack bars are kept replenished so there is no reason for anyone not to eat and drink their fill. I did however hear some people complain that the all inclusive ended at 11 pm which I have never heard of before.
Entertainment - well they do try very hard. The animation team, particularly Miki, try so very very hard to keep everyone happy and entertained. He made us laugh out loud on many many ocasions and always remembered our names when he saw us. He is a real credit to the hotel. They do try very hard with the evening entertainment but ...
All in all we had a super holiday apart from the fact that the weather was overcast nearly all week and I would recommend the hotel to others.
Make the effort to use the upper pool area - it is well worth the walk
