Los Salmones is an average hotel, but the big plus is its location, which is close to the beach, supermarkets, bars and restuarants.
The hotel itself comprises of four circular blocks of apartments, which surround two pools - a small children's pool and a large swimming pool. The latter being poorly maintained.- missing tiles etc.
The hotel caters for a wide range of European guests. English people being in the minority. This results in a problem securing a sun lounger. There are approximately 120 loungers but around 80 have towels on them by 8:30am., with no sign of the occupants. despite a printed notice (in English) warning that loungers cannot be reserved and that towels will be removed by the attendant.
If you are going all-inclusive, forget it. The food is poor despite a wide selection. We dined there once. The cost was 8 Euros for as much as you can eat in the buffet restuarant. The best part was the dessert!
The rooms are quite large with a separate bedroom. The beds are average and the linen is changed 3 times a week.
As the complex is close to the busy main, try not to get a room in Blocks 2 & 3. There is no double glazing, so there is some traffic noise.
The mini market on site is good value. We bought our water there for 1 euro for 5 litres, though apparently tap water is drinkable. We just used it for making tea and coffee. a bottle of wine there cost 1.80 euros. if you drink at the bar, a litre bottle of wine is 8.50 Euros. i don't know the cost of beer there because we went to O'leary's bar (50 yards outside the complex) where lager is 1 Euro a pint.
Mulligans is a good place for a tasty Irish breakfast. Turn right when you leave the complex. If you carry on past there you will eventually come to the Brittania. A great place for well cooked English food at a bargain price.
You must try the grilled sole at one of the Spanish restaurants - it's lovely.
We hired a car for 3 days so we could explore the magnificent mountains in the centre of the island. It cost £55 including insurance, but be careful about parking. We parked in Peurto Rico in the harbour alongside other cars because there was no apparent restrictions. when we returned there was a police notice saying (in Spanish) that we were fined 45 Euros. Gutted!
All in all we really enjoyed our stay at Los Salmones.. A brilliant location!
