Had a great time and can't wait to come back again next year to all the great Riu staff!

We booked direct with RIU and got a reasonable price for a late booking. We booked a 1 bed apartment which was overlooking the RIU Waikiki next door. The room was basic 2 hobs a fridge and all the cutlery you could wish for.....This is supposed to be a 4 * rated place, but there was no kettle, toaster, microwave Ive stayed in better 2 key places.
They supply an iron from reception but there only seems to be 2 irons for the whole hotel, and no ironing board either...so its the towel on the coffee table time again. UKTV is a no-no its the usual SKY news and BBC World for those who cannot live without UKTV! This does get on your nerves!

The beds were rock solid and i personally slept on the couch for 5 nights and I was constantly waking up on those horrid beds!

The good points:

Staff are excellent, friendly and very knowledgeable, cleaning of rooms was good and towels galore! Shower also did the job, for the ladies, the hairdryer was quite weak so those of you with goldilocks hair...beware and take your own!
The apartments are a great size though!
Pool area was very nice and secluded from the road outside with a plethera of sunbeds but get them early if you want them to be in the sunshine! Also waiters will offer drinks service at your sunlounger!! (nice touch)

Good location 2 mins to Gran Chapperal and about 7 mins walk to Yumbo and to Kasbah. Taxis a plenty on the left of the entrance.

Free bus service to beach, early morning then it stopped about 12pm until 15.00pm.

Would I stay here again.....?

No, there are far better equipped apartments for cheaper and less * ratings.

I stayed at the hotel for a couple of days during New Year. The hotel had a nice pool & reception but the room décor was hopelessly outdated. Moreover, the bathroom was not very fresh and I had problems with the shower. I found that price/quality was not satisfactory.

Stayed at the Riu Flamingo 1-8 Sept and had a great time.
Booked a 1 bed apartment which was good with plenty of drawers and wardrobe space! The kitchenette was adequate if you only wanted to snack (remember to pack a travel kettle if you fancy the odd tea or coffee) The bathroom was a good size and had both a shower and bath. The balcony was large, plenty of room to leave your lilo ! Couldnt fault the maids as the room was always clean and tidy with fresh towels if you needed them.

The pool was a nice size and there were always spare loungers.
Didnt really eat at the hotel except for a couple of snacks at the poolside bar, the food there was excellent.

Went down to the beach for breakfast as there are plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars to choose from. Similarly for dinner we either went to the beach area or the Yumbo Centre which was always good for a laugh. Plenty of entertainment in the evening but a shopping centre by day.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is happy to stay a few minutes walk from the beach and busy night time areas. It was nice to be in the centre of things for the evening but then be able to walk away and leave the noise behind you!

All in all a fantastic holiday.
