This is the third time we went to Tenerife. The second time we were there we saw Sir Anthony and wanted to stay there during our next stay in Tenerife. This time we stayed for two weeks.
We were a little troubled because of recent negative reviews. However in our opinion these reviews are not founded.
The five stars of this hotel are absolutely justified. We have stayed in many five star hotels and resorts (St Martin, Aruba, Bonaire, Bora Bora, Tahiti, Petit St Vincent, Mustique etc) so we know what to expect.
The service and quality of the staff was exceptional. Room service never took more than 15 minutes regardless of what we ordered. The receptionist, especially Mrs. Angel Sierra, took care of all our needs and went out of her way to make our stay very memorable.
Our room was very good, much better than we expected. We had a triplex room with a private plunge pool. A very good and large bed (length 2,20 m, width 2,50 m). Two toilets and the bath was large enough for two. Everything very clean and well taken care of.
If you stay on the first floor you do not have any sea view because of the wall and trees that block your view. So make sure you either have a duplex of triplex room or ask for a room on the second floor.
The hotel is perfectly situated between Las Americas en Los Cristianos (15 min walk). Nice beaches. This hotel is for people who are seeking rest, comfort and special treatment. You can use all the facilities of the Mare Nostrum Resort. It was very quiet in the hotel and at the pool area. The pool is small but large enough for the guests of Sir Anthony. Guests of the sister hotels are not allowed to use this pool.
In our opinion this hotel is not suited for children because they have a tendancy to disturb the peace and quiet other guests are looking for in such a small and exclusive hotel like Sir Anthony. The sister hotels have much more facilities for kids. Luckely there were hardly any children during our stay.
We would not advise half board or full board because there are too many excellent restaurants to explore. To name a few: La Rana, La Rincon del Arroz (Los Cristianos) and the best of all: El Pote (Los Cristianos). For El Pote: let the hotel make a reservation and ask for a surprise menu.
We also went to La Vieja in La Caleta for the fish. The view was stunning but the food was awful.
For cocktails you have to visit the Monkey Bar. No doubt the best cocktails of the island. The food is good to.
One negative point is that the traffic has increased a lot during the last 10 years. Driving on the highway and in the villages is much like driving here in Holland. It is very busy so driving is not relaxing. Only when you go more inland (for instance to El Teide) is gets quieter. But if you want to get around you need a car.
We are sure that we will go back and stay at Sir Anthony again. We can recommend it.
