Me (21) and my partner (22) decided to have a nice holiday in Tenerife, so we headed to the Travel Agents. We wanted self catering, so Las Piramides sounded fab. On arrival to the apartments, the receptionist at check in wasn’t too appealing, and the lobby was very dark and smelt strongly of cleaning fluids. Everyone else who was checking in at the same time, were pointed to the lifts for their rooms. But me and my partner were sent in the opposite direction, we had to go outside to get to our room (103), and to which we were greeted with a rather large pool of vomit, not something I want to see on my first night. The card we were given to enter our room didn't work, so we had to go back and get another...after a very sleepless night from all the noise we decided to ask if we could change rooms. The rep wasn't best pleased when we told her we weren’t happy. But she agreed that our room was bad when she heard which number it was. We changed rooms to 2105 and everything was fine after that. Room 103 was a nice room, just the location of the apartment which wasn't, its fine if your into partying all night, but me and my partner are not. You couldn't fault the presentation of the rooms or the cleanliness as they were both to a high standard. The location of the apartments are good too, close enough to the bars if your into that kind of thing, but far enough away to not hear the noise. I'd say to anyone staying in these apartments who isn't into partying DO NOT accept room 103, or any in that region. Overall I’d say these apartments aren’t that bad, it all depends on what you are there for, and which room you get. I’d recommend the apartments to anyone, as they were nice to stay in, but I would pre warn them about some of the points I made above.

My girlfriend and I (21 and 22) stayed here from the 9th until the 16th of May and really quite enjoyed our stay. We're not the heavy drinking types and reading some reviews was dreading it would be non stop noise all trough the night.

If you're not the partying until 6am type like us I probably wouldn't go in high season. The day we were leaving was the beginning of high season and we saw 2 huge stag parties and an entire rugby team check in so needless to say it would probably get a little rowdy.

We stayed in the final week of low season and after an awful first night we really enjoyed it. Our first night as we were checking in we were given possibly the worst room in the hotel. The room itself was lovely, very big and spacious but it was down a series of back corridoors, outside and then into a connected annex of the hotel. It was mainly used for reps to stay in while they worked there but there was a pathway going right past our window so people were going along it at all hours. We also were given the wrong keycard so had to trapse all the way back to have it changed and then on the way back we encountered a rather large pile of sick which remeained there untill about 11am the next morning.

So the next day we asked to change rooms to a higher floor so as to avoid all the traffic of people using the pathway. There was no hesitation from the man at reception and he gave us a new key to a room overlooking the courtyard on the 2nd floor. This room was a bit smaller that the other but in a much better location and ideal for us.

The rest of the holiday went smoothly and I would highly reccomend this to anyone, young or old. A few other things to consider are;

Unlike some reviews you're not right on the club's and bar's doorsteps and you can't hear them at night, so perfect if you want a good nights sleep. They're only about 5 minutes walk away though.

Beware of touts trying to sell knock of watches and sunglasses. DO NOT stop and talk to them as once you do you'll be hard pressed to get away. We ended up buying 2 pairs of glasses just to keep them happy. 2 also tried to sell us cannabis when we said we didnt need any more glasses. They're not threatening or anything like that but Las America's is plagued with them and its impossible to walk down the street without being stopped.

All in all I was pleasantly suprised by how nice the hotel/apartments were and the noise was minimal (The coridoors are very echoey though so people walking to their rooms can be quite loud at night. I suggest if you're a light sleeper to buy some earplugs, I did and they worked a treat)

I would stay again but not in room 103 or any in that outdoor annex (That was our room on the 1st night)

after reading some reports on here i was unsure of what to expect. we booked last minute on the friday and flew out on tuesday so we could only have what we were given. we had nothing at all to complain about. the rooms were big and light. always clean. the pool was lovely, the staff ready to help and gave a good exchange on money changed at the reception desk. bar staff remembered you and were very welcoming. we will deffinatly saty here again. i would not say this hotel is a 2 star more like a 3 star. not far away from anywhere. there is a cafe to have a full breakfast in and plenty of resturaunts near by. the little italy resturaunt provides excellent food! all round we really enjoyed our stay.

“As bad as it gets”

Las Piramides

The appearance of the hotel itself is like a police headquarters in some tin pot African state, Reception was dark and dingy, Long bland corrodors with cell like doors, Barbe.
wire, chain link fencing and spiked railings. Our room was at the back 208 at eye level with a pathway frequented by black prostitutes and their pimps with a mixture of drug pushers and muggers (Keep well away from that pathway after dark) The toilet had a large hole in the ceiling above the toiled pan and shower. There were several monster sized clockroaches playing about and the whole appartment smelled of human urine. We complained and were told by the manager if we did not like his hotel then MOVE, Thompsons rep said the same but was careful to point out it would be at our own expense. We heard the room door open in the night and on investigation we discovered someone with a pass key had been at several rooms and money was reported missing, We spoke to the management abot seeing an old man creeping about at 2am but were told to mind our own business Altogether not a pleasant experiance Would never go back and would advise anyone if they do go to be carefull of the robbers outside and be aware of the threat from within
