“Definitely NOT a 5 star hotel!”

We've just returned from a 4 night, £1,300 break to this hotel. It was not as described at all and really, it should not be allowed to get away with calling itself a 5 star hotel. It should realistically be rated a 3 star.

The positives.....
The hotel itself is beautifully placed, right in the middle of my favourite shops (Gucci, Prada, Burberry, Lacoste etc) and the site is lovely, being right by the beach, an attractive promenade and lots of child friendly facilities.
The hotel amenities are very nice indeed and look impressive - we felt that all their cash had been poured into making the building look lovely, at the expense of the accommodation.
There are lots of great restaurants nearby - you couldn't fault the location.
The staff were almost all charming and helpful and very kind to our shy 3yr old.

The negatives...
We were given a smoking room (we had requested otherwise, but the receptionist looked harrassed so we didn't say anything) and the furniture was quite cheap and nasty. The walls were paper thin and we endured a sleepless night from our first neighbours, who thankfully checked out and gave us some peace!
We were hurried out on the dot of 12 noon on our last day, despite having been promised a later checkout (clearly depended on which receptionist you got!)
The buffet breakfast was truly awful if you wanted a cooked breakfast - the meat looked as if the animals had had heart conditions!! Sticking to continental meant the food was fine (can't go wrong with bread rolls and yogurts!)

In summary - we had a wonderful time despite the disappointment with the hotel room. If we could do it again, we would pick the same location bearing in mind the facilities for our young child, but would not use this hotel, we would try another 5 star hotel.

“Fantastic”

I went on a long week-end (6-9 Dec 07)to this lovely roman-esque hotel with 3 mates. We are all late 30's and were looking for a relaxing break to celebrate a birthday. We flew with GB Airways from Gatwick North and that was on time and comfortable. We had 2 twin rooms but on check in we were given glasses of champagne and a room upgrade to the top floor with our own pools on our balconies. The staff were fantastic. Breakfast, again with unlimited champagne, was a full hot and cold buffett. There a 3 hotels linked with a pool and sun taerrace. Towels on sunbedfs at the crack of dawn was irritatting but understandable. I had a massage in the spa which was to die for. The hotel is directly opposite its own lovely beach and surrounded by designer shops and gorgeous restaurants & bars. The seedier clubbing side (veronica's & tramps) is a 15 minute walk away. It was hot and sunny everyday. Sad to leave. WILL BE GOING BACK NEXT YEAR.

This hotel was rated 5 star but i would have to put it at a good 4 star. Reception desk small but pleasant staff. Bags taken to room by staff. Maid service and fresh towels every day. Free pool towels available at poolside and could be changed when required.Pool area spacious but even in december sunbeds were being reserved first thing in morning even though there was a note in room to say it was forbidden. Pool is also used by two ajoining hotels marc anthony and julio ceaser. Spa treatments available at a cost.Breakfast had plenty of choice and there was even cava on offer every morning! Hotel right on beach front and in a nicer part of las americas near to los christianos.(5 min walk). Requested sea view but got pool view but it wasnt bad had a view over distant mountains but balcony in shade all day.Bath water was slow to fill bath. Shower gel and shampoo supplied along with comb and shower cap. Mini bar but if you want it cleared so you can use it as a fridge you pay a charge, sorry didnt enquire the cost. Good air conditioning, tv has sky news and bbc world in english.Hotel bar is open from 5pm to midnight. would have prefered comfy settees rather than chairs in that area to relax.Piano playing at breakfast and singer on around 7pm in bar area

“beautiful hotel”

What a beautiful hotel this was, the staff were very friendly and helpful the rooms were kept spotlessly clean everyday. Lovely marble sweeping staircases, the beach was a step away from the main foyer. visited the med palace although the pastel blue colour doesn`t give it justice. Parque santiago 3 shopping centre right next door and would highly recommend eating at the Restaurant Atlantico in the evening, the best steak diane i have ever experienced.
Across the road are more wonderful restaurants although book in advance for the tepanyaki. Once you`ve eaten you can browse the delicious shops there. Then try the Las Piramides Bar where all the pretty people are, i promise you will be amazed, we were.
In all a delightfully smashing holiday and hotel and would highly recommend.
Just one small minus was if you wanted to relax in your room there were no english channels apart from sky news and you had to pay to watch a film. But it din`t take the shine of things.

Just arrived back from a weeks stay at the Cleopatra Hotel , we loved it, i do have to agree with others that it probably is now more 4 star than 5, however its still very nice indeed, a little tired and could do with up dating, at very least loose the shower curtains and get glass screens cuz all they do is stick to your wet bum, but , spotlessly clean which is good enough for me.We chose the Cleo after reading a few poor reports on T A about the Med Palace, so we payed quite bit extra and booked Cleo, but after being there that was not needed the whole Mare Nostrum resort was all of same standard, and you are free to use any pool, restaurant or bar throughout. Staff were all very helpfull and nice, as was the food, the buffets had plenty of choice and well presented. You must book a table at the other rests in the hotels, and its so worth it , we had some fantastic meals, esp in La Pyramide which comes at an extra cost of 15eu, but worth every .......the food, ambience and entertainment is just MMmmmm, we went 2 nights on the trot. Also at extra cost of again 15eu you must treat yourself to a day up on the 4th floor of the Med Pal in the chill out pool/bar, lovely day , spoilt. ! Your fee you get a dressing gown? slippers, towels and about 5 diff drinks and fresh fruit bought to you through out the day . Only around 20 pers allowed in at one time so get there for 10am to get 1 of the 10 beds around the pool, there are other beds up there but on the terrace, very peacefull day with no shade from trees or hotels which for me was a problem by pools, there are brollys if you want shade, also a nice bar to use in the eve. Overall great holiday in nice hotel on a lovely beach in good location.
