“parque del sol never again”

Parque del Sol

9 Jul 2008

Stayed for a week with my family (3people) via TUI
Germany. The room we got was quite OK , but located
right above a cellar with ventilation machinery , so nonstop noise guaranteed and secured.
Could not sleep a wink .Reception was just hopeless and did
not do anything to change our room(they said it could possible
only if manager gave OK, but manager had two days , so sorry.
I told them to call their manager and they said they could not because the manager did not receive calls when off ??!!)
Second day we bought noise stoppers and put into our ears, cause the manager came back but did not change our room-
she said hotel was full)
Wanted to watch EURO 2008 on tv in the room, but there
was no audio ! Again to the reception and again the same
thing : "nothing can be done this is a big technical problem'
That problem lasted for the whole week of matches including
the final !
Food was a tragedy , even breakfasts, not mentioning dinners,
which we paid for the whole stay but had just 2 or 3.
While dinner you are supossed to pay even for tap water
and of course tea and/or coffee.
Entertainment in that place is a total crap , boring and
absolutely nonprofessional.
On top of the abvove : reception staff very unfriendly with an
exception for one young lady, who tried. The rest of staff
did not care at all and did not know anything at all ( I asked
for the nearest Avis and they toldd me to call infoline !)
Waiters rather bored by their job and their manager ( alike of
the Faltty Towers' hero) whose main job was controlling
if anyone took out anything out to his room from the buffet.
Our son took a teabag from the breakfast to have a cup in our room and was treated by that 'gentleman' unacceptably.
Will never return !

We went through the RCI timeshare, myself and hubby and kids aged 2 and 4. So with this in mind every single apartment was either up or down stairs and this was very awkward coming home with a sleeping child in a buggy at 10pm. Hubby had to carry pushchair each time and broke it in the end doing so.

However, this aside when we entered the hotel lobby I had a good feeling about it. The decor was lovely. The staff were efficient but not always over friendly, although others bent over backwards to be pleasant. Arrived late at night, so no porter and weren't even shown to our room. The apartment was well equipped, good size balcony, bathroom, bedrooms and living area. There were plenty of amenities required for a small family. Only thing I missed having was a dishwasher! I also found they only cleaned what they could see, lots of fluff under the beds and I found belongings from previous tenant, showing they can't really be looking too hard under there. Tiled floor was a bit grubby too. Bedding was a bit musty. Also only 1 extra pillow available, when we both needed one. But beds were firm, which was good. Clean towels every day and they did smell fresh but toilet smelt a bit widdly, not nice!

We found the majority to be German. They were notorious for hogging sun loungers by putting towels down at 6am and not coming back til the afternoon!

Lovely pool, pool bar, mini market on site etc. no problems there. The food was ok actually, surprisingly. Breakfasts were really good, we ate 6 our of 7 days there - excellent variety and really had our fill and good price. Dinner we only had once and was average really.

Hotel entertainment was LAME. There was the same bloke performing 3 of the nights on his yamaha keyboard. A magic show one night, which was poor but the best of the bunch. Another night was an eagle show that we missed because it started early! There was a snake show, which was ok.

Be warned, if you hire a car, parking is dire. There is no dedicated parking at all so you have to park on the street. Also the hotel is situated 300m from the beach, but 300m of steep hill, so was a bit tough for us with the kids, but we coped.

If you take the left fork down from the hotel there is a lovely restaurant called Gran Reserva. If you take the right fork there is a good restaurant called Tony Roma's. The other restaurants are pretty lame but you get a good view of the coast. Also a good english brekkie to be had at Bentley's along the parade. Be wary of all the people trying to sell you crap watches, sunglasses or jewellery and all the women wanting to braid your hair. It gets very annoying.

2 sun loungers on Fanabe beach is 13 euros. Average meal for family of 4 was 80 euros.

If you do hire a car and can get to Los Cristianos go to the restaurant alongside the habour called Las Velas. It's lovely.

“Fantastic holiday”

Parque del Sol

18 May 2008

We have just returned from holiday at the Parque Del Sol and it was FANTASTIC!.
The apartment was huge, and spotless. It had large living, dining kitchen, full bathroom including bath and a large double bedroom. It had iron, ironing board, kettle, toaster, microwave. hair dryer everything you need.
No air con but large fans kept the rooms cool.
The pool area was paradise!!! Plenty of sunbeds at any time of day, a children's section and a jacuzzi. Just near the pool is a gym, sauna, soft play area, pool, table tennis and laundry room.
This, and the supermarket are the only two places which were not accessible to wheelchairs. Everywhere else had ramps or lifts. The ramps were a little steep though.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.. My husband lost his wallet while we were away and they were great, ringing the police etc etc.
The snack bar had a good selection, although it was a little expensive compared to all the ones near the beach. The Restaurant was very good. A wide selection of nicely cooked tasty food. We bought two meals and got one free.
The bar area was very nice, but double the price of the bars on the beach and the service was very slow. The entertainment was crap!!
The beach, shops and bars are a ten min walk down rather steep hills. My husband has a prostetic leg and would have struggled if it hadn't been for Orange badge. We hired a electric wheelchair for around £80 and it was worth it's weight in gold bars. They can also help you with your bags at the airport and take you to your hotel.. Look them up on the internet if you are going to any of the Canary islands, we can certainly recommend them.
There are lots of shops, restaurant and bars along the beach. All were very reasonably priced and we had some really good meals. You can also book a good selection of watersports.
We found the buses very cheap and easy to use. We went to Los Christianos and Los Americas for around £2 each way.
Trips: We went to Loro park... a fantastic day out . We would recommend it if you like animals.
We also did the whale and dolphin boat trip. again a fantastic day but book on the beach not with your rep it;s much much cheaper!!
You could get lots of other trips, all reasonably priced.
THe weather was great. We had a couple of days over cast but it was still very warm. I got the best tan i've ever had.
Over all a really great place. I;d go again.

What a wonderful hotel we have now stayed at this hotel three times and find it hard to find a better self catering apartment in the coste adjee area. The rooms are all spacious and kept in very good order,if self catering everthing is provided from coffee maker to toaster full size oven and grill plenty of pots and pans even a microwave, and of course a good size fridge to keep those bottles of wine in.The pool area is kept spotless and is very relaxing plenty of sunbeds to go round, you can also get bar snacks from the pool bar which are excellent value, try the ice cream mmm yummy. This hotel is only a five minute walk down to the beach were there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from and a short stroll along along the beach front brings you in to torvicas which is also good for bars.We are going again this year and can not wait, hope if you choose this hotel you will also have a brillant holiday
