“Love Love Love”

Apartments California

6 Jul 2008

Well me and three friends stayed here from the 27th of June untill the 04th of July 2008 and totally loved it. It was reasonably priced and ended up getting more outa what we had paid.

When we arrived at the hotel we were told that the family room we had booked was full and they were giving us two studio apartments instead. This was a major plus for us as it meant two showers and loads more space. They even made sure that the apartments were right next to one and other so it was all cool.

The apartments were spotless and towels were changed every day except Wednesday and Saturday. Fully equiped kitchen area which meant we could cook a meal if we had wanted to. Fully length mirrored wardrobes. Cannot fault the rooms or the cleaning of them.

The only thing i would say is to either rent a fan from reception or buy one as the rooms during the day are very hot. We ended up leaving the balcony door opened a little at night to let some air in.

The only thing i would say not to do is eat at the little cafe that is next to the pool. This was the only meal of the holiday that wasnt up to much. You dont have to walk far to get a decent place to eat from the apartments. There is a chinease across the road, an Italian at the end of the road and a place called The George which is about 3 doors down from the apartment. We loved the place as it was very good to eat in and the staff were all very friendly. We ended up there every night before hitting the strip to party. Scotty is the DJ in there for the Karaoke and hes such a nice guy. He made our nights.

The apartments, Id say are more for the younger people as normally you hear people playing music as they are getting ready to go out and you tend to hear people coming in at night. On one night there was a woman who wasnt too happy about us lot making noise as we came in. Id recommend this apartment if your ok with sometimes hearing people coming in giggling at all hours (never lasts for long once they reach their room).

“I would def go back”

Apartments California

I stayed at these apartmenst from the 18th May 08 - 25 May 08 with my friend Tanya. The apartments were exactly what we expected and very close to the nightlife. Mostly English people stay at this hotel although a few Norwegian girls were there also. We met 5 lovely guys who looked after us well. I would def recommend Linnekers Bar and Mett Bar, Tramps and Rags after 3am are really good especially when all the reps and bar staff join you when they have finished. If you are under 30 and looking for more of a beach/clubbing holiday then this is def the hotel for you.. If you prefer quieter life and poolside holiday then this hotel would not suit you. The pool is not great neither is the poolside food. Overall I had a wicked time and met some really nice people.

“Nice Apartments, Great Location!!”

I stayed at these apartments with my friend between 01/04/08 - 08/04/08 and found them to be just what i expected. The California classes itself as 2 star, but i would say it's closer to 3!

The apartments have a great location and are close to all amenities, restaurants, beaches etc. You can rent irons, ironing boards, fans and several other things for 6 euros for the week which is excellant. Safe rental for the week is 11 euros with a 6 euro deposit which is given back when you return the key.

There is a Spar straight across the road from the California which i tended to use the most or a "Hyperdino" supermarket which also sold lots of British products.

The pool area itself is of a decent size. Matresses for the sunbeds can be rented daily for 1.5 euros. They were quite popular with the guests as the bed itself with just your beach towel down can get a bit uncomfortable!

The room i shared with my friend was nice enough. Big double (mirrored) wardrobe in the room - just not a lot of hangers in it! The bath, you could tell, had just been replaced and was spotless.

There was a tv in the room which was useless as all channels were in spanish and had a poor reception anyway!

My overall impression of the California was that it was a nice place to stay with friendly/helpful reception staff. I would stay here again.

“Pucker”

Apartments California

27 Feb 2008

Just had a weekend away and found apartments just what we needed. The positives - Located in a central position, just far enough way from the main clubbing strip but no need to get a cab if thats where you want to go. Plenty of places to eat & drink within a stones throw. Very clean, the maids are always on the go! In the rooms the kitchen was ready to go - you do not have to hire anything that was refreshing. Towels changed daily if you require but this is your choice (this is normal these days). The swimming pool is in a nice little sun trap - we had sun from 9 till 6 each day and there was plenty on sun beds (but I dont think hotel was full to capacity). All staff were friendly & helpful.
The minor negatives - We were in a room close to the ajoining bars/shops so recommend you ask for a room away from these if you book, the bar prices we felt were dear, unless you drink the local lager (its getting expensive to drink imported beer now - Guiness & John Smiths all 4 Euros plus). Will definately return but will probably book directly next time (coral hotels) as easyjet are soon to be taking over from BA on this route so may be able to get good deals.
One tip - when we landed we were approached buy a charming english lady offering cheap transfers - It was a good deal but they were very late picking us back up on the return trip and we had to chase them to collect us, when we were picked up the driver just grunted at us, spent the whole journey on his mobile phone and we were nearly late checking in. In not saying do not use these people they do offer a good deal but give yourself some extra time to get a cab if they do let you down.

“another privately booked group relocated”

Apartments California

6 Feb 2008

having spent several holidays in las americas i booked this hotel in oct 2007 through holiday nights for the location and good reviews.
i read about people being relocated before we travelled so i checked with holiday nights to see if there was a problem, they assured me the booking was okay.
on arrival we were told the hotel was full.they had relocated us in the nearby piramides(not a hotel i would have chosen)
after an hour or so of protesting with the manageress we gave in and went to the piramides.
we spoke to several guests at the california who told us similar stories of other holiday makers being relocated over that week.
also local bar owners seem to think that unless you book with a major tour operator you get relocated on arrival,a practice that has been going on for months.
we were lucky to end up just around the corner,we heard of others who had been moved to the other end of the resort.
so if you have booked through a private holiday firm be warned!!!
