Was upgraded to this hotel from the fully booked california apartments, this was after a 1hr 40min heated debate in the california apt, they wanted to put our party of 3 right next to all the roudy veronica night life, this was not going to happen in a million years.
we explained that the reason we booked the california apt was that having walking difficulties & we knew the resort area the california apts were booked only because of the location.
when we were move to the compostela hotel we were told it was only 5mins away, it may be if your in a formula 1 race car, to someone with walking difficulties it may as well have been on mars.
we hated the location, we didnt like the pool area, as everyone just stares all day long if you dare to sun yourself, at 5.55.am the bin lorry came every morning to collect the waste & took great pleasure in making as much noise as possible, the room was fine as were the staff, the location of the hotel for someone with walking difficulties is a joke to be moved here, when a hotel or apartment is booked solely for the location & to be moved to this location it feels like your holiday may as well be spent in a prison, we were told when we complained over the location to simply get a taxi in to town, oh well thats OK then, problem sorted at 5-6 euros a go 4 times a day plus tips this is what we have come on holiday to do, great thats a solution to a problem that is no fault of our party, all 3 of our party asked within days if we could return back to the UK instead of continue our stay at the compestela we hated it their that much, as for a quiet location every morning around 4am all we could here (being at the front of the hotel) was drunk gangs of lads walking passed singing football songs, well i say singing, i actually think some of them may have been cutting off their fingers with a blunt knife, think finger nails down a black board, it was this bad.
would i recommend this hotel, the rooms are fine the staff are pleasant, location NO, quiet NO, would i stay there free NO.

Stayed at the compostela beach club golf II apartments for a week in October. The apartments are really spacious and very clean, towels and beds made most days. The pool ares was nice but we went to the beach most days, its only a 10 minute walk and really nice. The apartments are situated very central, easy access to all areas of tenerife, not more than a 10 minute walk to the restuarants/pubs etc, we didnt need to get any taxi's. Weather was great for that time of year high 20's every day. All in all good apartments

I read alot of mixed reviews about this hotel, but overall I feel we touched lucky,
It is in between las Americas and Los Cristianos so it is very quiet at nights Brill for kids I had 3 with me, brill pool (no deep end) brill kids club and Sal the entertainer was excellent he knew all the kids names dont know where he got the energy from!!
The downside was no air condotioning in rooms we hired fans @ 6 euros each but they just circulated the warm air!!!
the restaurant on the complex wasnt great and expensive but we found a cheap supermarket called Supermercado just 15min walk away.
most nights we walked into Las Americas and ate then came bac for the bingo bingo bongo bongo (complete geg) and the quiz
All in all a great holiday!!!
Would def go bac to Compostela

when we arrived we got the complete wrong impression...as it is small and the room were not ready we all had to wait. after being shown to our apartment I was very pleased with the size of the one bedroomed apt. it was very clean and the staff were excellent. they couldnt do enough for you. the only downside to this complex is that there is no air conditioning and therefore we had to rent fans. the entertainment was ok but Sal (the entertainer ) was a gem. he has a brill personality and knows everyone by name. he made the holiday for the children and the adults. the location of the apartments is excellent and 10mins walk will take you to the main resort areas. the team at compestela are very professional and helpful at all times and I would stay again. we booked with First Choice and the reps were just ok...they didnt interact with us at all and only spoke to us at the boting welcome meeting and I felt that they could have supported Sal more in relation to the guests. Well done Sal, Abel & Rodger

Where to start - 2 x 20 somethings on a couple type holiday - upon arrival at 2am due to delays we were booked in and straight into the room, overlooking the pool on the ground floor.

**Room +s**
Very spacious, fair sized kitchen with big fridge and small freezer coffee maker, standard oven type stuff, pots pans you get the gist, massive lounge / diner.
Big bedroom with huge wardrobe and plenty of hangers, floor safe(30 euros for the week with 20 of that being a refundable deposit), immaculately clean, slot payment TV if such things interest you and fresh towels in the huge bathroom complete with bath, shower, slightly droopy shower rail and although not needed by us - disabled rails by toilet and bath.
The balcony / terrace had a drying rack and ours got the sun from 5 pm onwards which was perfect.
Room was cleaned daily - fresh towels each time, beds made etc. First day the cleaner rang the buzzer tried to open up (we were still in bed at 10am) but the doors have chains. After a brief chat she realised we were not the early riser types and only came to clean in the afternoons from then onward without being asked. Also the hot water never runs out - each room has a boiler.

**Room -s**
No Air Con, No water in fridge on arrival, no washing up kit (towel, clth, soap) for dishes. Nothing major really.

**Complex+s**
The whole place cleaned by 9am, pool, floors the works. Very friendly staff, on site bar / restaurant serves breakfast and snack type food (some pretty substantial meals) until 5pm then the restaurant takes over with a new menu at 7pm - ate twice (pizza 7 euro and a sandwich 3 euro - for the money not bad at all)
On site "supermarket" - its a glorified corner shop but is perfect for water, fresh bread in the morning and all those little things (like washing kit)
Something we didn't need was the kiddy type stuff - play pen, Sal the entertainment guy who kept the kids going day and night and tried for the adults at night (Bingo not being for us - we didn't bother)

**Complex -s**
Easy to hear everything going on at nights room to room, up down left and right so if you get the old chavs next door you will be woken - reception moved several couples around the complex due to this and tried their best - no real grumbles.
The shop - beer is small in choice and large in price to get you to buy at the bar - lager being about 2 euro 80 cents (£2 at the time) so not really bad at all especially when you head away from the hotel and get stung for 5 euro in the top areas.
Cheeky 1 euro 50 to hire a 1 inch thick mattress for the sun loungers by the pool although it is for the day and you can still move anywhere you want.

On a sort of middle note - check out was at 11 in the AM and our flight was at 9 PM so we paid 30 euro to keep the room. They do have very clean toilet / shower rooms and bag storage - ideal if you have not got a full day to wait.
Also beware the higher sun lounging area above the pool only at about 2 and 4pm do the golf course sprinklers kickk in and depending on the breeze you can get slightly damp.

**Area +s**
10 to 20 minutes walk depending on your speed gets you to Las VISTAS beach (grey sand - crazily hot under foot, showers by the beach, a few bars and restaurants, little supermarkets everywhere) slightly less time gets you to the LAS VISTAS strip, the SAFARI centre with the two colourful domes on top houses the better restaurants in the area and I would highly recommend the mexican and the Italian opposite (white tiles everywhere - I forget the name) Harrys bar in the middle is belting for a chill out with some serious cocktails to be had for 7 euro a time.
The real Shops are everywhere along here, pretty expensive to be fair - got some raybans for internet type prices and if you haggle like mad between stores you can get discounts on everything.

**Area -s**
Unless you are quite quite mad don't go near Las Americas strip - obviously if you want two rounds for the price of one and shots in a pretty dirty bar with some southern fried to follow its perfect - it has gone down hill since my last visit 7 years ago and thats saying something.
Taxi's are the only other negative - generally 6 euro will get you from the doorstep of the hotel to outside the safari complex - they did try to short change and over charge several times so its worth just giving them 6 euro and agreeing that will be the price.

**Meals, hints and general guidance**
For the beach and safari complex - We walked out to the right; down the road to the car park in front of the offices (200 meters), cut through the car park to the busy road (zebra crossing points everywhere - the cars actually stop for you to) across the road and down the slight hill towards the small restaurants Continue around the right hand bend to the roundabout (if you cross over on the bend itself there is a big supermarket on the left a pretty good fruit shop just on the turning next to a reasonable spanish restaurant) You then cross over and head down hill towards the sea front - At the next junction straight on gets you to the beach and right gets you to the food or left for the matter (monkey bar being very nice although a medium rare steak is almost raw so be specific when ordering)
There was a trip to Santa Cruz - Not worth it at all unless you have a specific pair of sun glasses or an electrical item in mind - internet is on a par with the prices for this stuff - clothes were very expensive and the city itself was grubby, mad with traffic and not at all pleasant.

In all if I were to return to the area I would certainly use the COMPOSTELA II again, not to be confused with the COMPOSTELA by the beach or the COMPOSTELA III.
