Hideout on the Horseshoe has a great website and the grounds look absolutely beautiful, BUT, once you check in all that isn't "all that"! Hideout on the Horseshoe advertises "luxurious" accommodations. Well that is all stripped away when you check in and they slap a plastic id bracelet on your wrist and tell you this is required to be worn thru out your stay! Those bracelets are hot and bothersome. Who would want to wear that for the length of their stay ON A VACATION! I understand if I was at sea world or schlitterbahn that is only a few hours this is for a few days!! My kids could not wait to take them off they were so uncomfortable. Not only is it the bracelets that are uncomfortable, but also the beds. They are old and feel like you have been beat during the night by the springs that poke out of them. Our cabin (which I learned from the temporary grounds keeper that it isn't the only one) has problems with the water heater working. So we did not have any hot water our first night and we were soooo tired from the drive . We had to wait for someone to figure where the waterheater was at and out how to reset the water heater. THen the next morning there was a friendly large TEXAS COCKROACH in the bathroom. By the end of the week that one roach must of had BABIES because they were everywhere in the bathroom and they did not care that we were there trying to pack up and leave!! GROSS! Not to mention the holes in the walls and ceiling of the bathroom which make you think someone is watching you with cameras or something !THe smoke detector also went off early in the morning on our last day of our stay and woke us up ! (there was no fire) The doors have automatic locks like a MOTEL (which gives you a clue as to their mindset) so everytime you go out to enoy their nice porch the door locks and you have to make sure you have a key ALL THE TIME ALONG WITH THE WATER BRACELETS! It is also a VERY LONG HOT WALK TO THE WATER. Where someone from Hideout on the Horseshoe is suppose to be checking if people who get out from there river are thier guest or not (because they should be wearing a bracelet. This happened over and over because there was noone there watching, guess they were "hiding out") I should of known better when making my reservations that this place wasn't what it advertise from their policies of all the money upfront and no cancelation or rescheduling!! THis is a horrible place to stay! Do not go there. New Braunsfels has way to many other places that have honest people working there for anyone to waste their time and money on Hideout on the Horseshoe!!
AND FOR THE RECORD I did notify the management about all the above and also felt I should of been refunded a couple nights (WE STAYED A WEEK) they were VERY unprofessional about the whole thing and denied everything! We took pictures of the holes in the bathroom and roaches. We have proof. Do not stay at HIdeout on the Horseshoe it is a WASTE OF TIME AND $$!!
