“It was great!”

Port Aransas Inn

17 Aug 2008 New

Port Aransas Inn was great. The trip was last minute during high season so I actually called the hotel on the way there. The manager had a room and was more then accommodating if we were to arrive late. The feel of the Inn is very personal. We stayed in the oriental room which was nice. It was very quiet in the room so I got plenty of sleep. The proximity to the beach was great and I thought it was much more convenient then other hotel locations because there are only a few beach access roads and we happened to be next to one. I do recommend taking a car to port Aransas because you can drive up on the beach and the restaurants are mostly clumped together on the north side of the island. If you are going to port Aransas I recommend this hotel as opposed to a chain hotel because it corresponds to the feel of the island. The room was very clean when we arrived. There was not daily maid service but I realize now we could have requested it. This was exactly what I wanted staying at Port Aransas.

“Fantastic As Always”

Once again I had a wonderful stay. The beach left a little bit to be desired because of all the kelp, but the Inn was great. Which is why I am a once a month resident. Thanks again for everything..

Cindy,
If you don't start saying at least one or two bad things about us, travelers will begin to think that you're lying. Missed you in August. Hope you enjoyed Mexico. Much love.

Until again, Nero

I'd never heard of the Port Aransas Inn until a couple of weeks ago, but I won't be surprised to see its reputation climb in the coming years. It's clear to me that the many renovations undertaken by the new management are paying off, and our experience was comfortable and relaxing. The pool is great, and the kitchenette was considerably nicer than those found in similarly priced accomodations. The staff was very warm and friendly. This is a great place to stay for large groups on a budget that want a beach hotel with all the essentials and none of the ornaments that jack up the price. Short walk to the beach.

Sometimes our ongoing efforts are inadvertently overlooked by our guests, but it only takes the acknowledgement & appreciation of a few to remind us why we press forward. Thank you for encouraging our efforts. We hope to make you proud to say you knew us when we were nobody's.

“Not Bad, but Not Great”

I stayed for three nights there for the 4th of July weekend, so I already know I was gonna be overcharged. That's a given. Since, the website doesn't have any pictures of the building, I didn't know what to expect. I had problems from the time I checked in.

First, the building itself is VERY old. It's a 3 floor structure that looks like it's ready to collapse. Once, I checked in they told me since parking (which is a joke there) was "limited", I could park along the back of the building. That's because there are only four parking slots in front of the rooms. Which made it VERY inconvenient to unload our stuff. Also, because it was on the second floor, which I was told would be a ground floor room when I made the reservation. But I didn't make a big deal about that.

When I got inside the room I noticed that there was not mini fridge or microwave in the room, as was supposed to be. I went down to the front desk and to their credit immediately brought up both. Once I got settle in, things got better. The only other bad things I can say about the experience is that there was no maid service. I know now that maid service is done upon request only, but I was never told that. It wasn't a big deal unless we'd stayed one more day.

Another bad thing is that the room we stayed in had a door going to the next room, actually the bathroom of the next room. On our last night there, we stayed on the beach most of the night, but I did come back to the room to shower and our neighbors were EXTREMELY loud. Kids and teenagers were not yelling, but screaming, thinking it was there back yard. If we had stayed in that night, I would have raised a BIG stink about that. I

know that it sounds like I'm ripping the hotel, but it wasn't as bad as it may seem. It was quaint and relaxing once I got settle in. It's a laid back atmosphere with very friendly and helpful staff. I would probably stay here again if it was the off season. The $165 per night was just way too much for a mom and pop type hotel.

“Yuck”

Port Aransas Inn

8 Jul 2008

A group of about 30 of us stayed at Port Aransas Inn for three nights over the July 4th weekend. We paid $150 per night which was overpriced. They raised the rates for the holiday weekend. There was no maid service. They never brought us clean towels. We ran out of toilet paper and we had to go find some in the utility room. If there were any staff around I never saw them. The garbage was never taken out. Our room was filthy. The inside of the front door was painted white but it was blackened with grime. The carpet was filthy. The bedspread had a large orange stain on it. There were stains on the wall around the window unit. I believe it was mold or mildew. There was black gunk around the faucet in the bathroom. The room reeked of mold and mildew.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I only wish you would have told us while you were here, so we could remedied some of the problems that you found. Allow me to address some of your concerns directly. First, it is normal practice for all hotels (esp. on the island) to raise there rates for special event and holiday weekends, and we simple follow suit. Second, we only offer daily maid service upon request. We've found that guests often leave valuables in their rooms while they go to the beach, and prefer that we simply don't enter their rooms. Guests can easily exchange out their dirty linens and towels ifor clean ones in the office, as well as pick up any additional hotel supplies as necessary. As for your cleanliness concerns, I personally checked all 7 of the rooms in your party, and could not find the room of which you were speaking. But I did speak with housekeeping, and rest assured we will more attentive to easy to miss spots, such as the backs of doors and faucets. Finally, all buildings on the islands have a bit of "ocean" smell to them, especially when it rains a great deal, such as when you visited us. We call it sea-must. There is truly little about this we can do. Once again, I apologize for any problems with your stay, and ask that next time you please tell us about any problems you have while you are here. We are much better at finding solutions than we are at reading minds.

Until again, Nero
