We booked directly and got a great rate. This was our third stay and can honestly say the place seems to get better. We brought the sister in law along, this was her first time in Texas. She enjoyed Port A. and couldn't believe what a good room you can get here for a reasonable price.
We had a Double Queen room that was spotless and had plenty of towels and nice amenities. The pool and hot tub were nice and warm.....but they do need to cool the pool when the hotter weather comes in!!

Breakfast was good.....cereal, fruit, hard boiled eggs and an interesting hot breakfast snack. Dunno what it was but it was tasty :)

They do have great packages at reasonable prices and we usually get the fishing package but do book early!

"Romance on the Texas Riveria" package included king spa room (2 nights) dinner and a dolphin cruise. Plus we were given a nice goodie bag at check-in (snacks, water, beach towels, lunch bag and flashlight) Average breakfast, one hot choice each day. Front desk could have been a little quicker to wait on customers. Convienent location. Overall a pleasant experience!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Pets were allowed so that made the kids happy. Suite was clean and no smells. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Free internet was no hassle to setup. Breakfast was good. Heated pool was great. Guest were polite. Staff was average. Walls a little thin but nothing that the wall unit couldn't drown out. I liked that the wall units had drains runing thru ground pipes so the walk ways were not wet. Fishing was bad everywhere so we never got to use the fish house. Over all a great place and price.

my family stayed at planatation suites while we were in town for a wedding. overall - we were pleased with what we received for what we paid (just under $60/night with the group rate). pros: nice breakfast, handy to have a small kitchen w/fridge, room was clean, nice small conference room that was used for the wedding reception, close to beach (we drove to the beach), and the heated pool was nice. cons: the pack-n-play they provided for our 1-yr-old to sleep in was visibly broken, the walls were VERY thin, the room had a musty smell (but you'll get that at the beach), and the pillows were the worst pillows i have ever tried to use. but like i said - not a bad deal at all. and i'll say too that the suite that the bride/groom stayed in didn't have the musty smell problem.
