This was the best deal I've received in a long time. Although somewhat dated, the rooms were large and very clean. The staff, from the front desk to the restaurant were friendly and very helpful. The free breakfast is cooked to order so try to go when it's not so crowded. The service was great with the waiter literally running from table to table to refill coffee or satisfy requests.

Although the web sites show the price to be $60 per night, I reserved directly with the hotel and paid $53 for a non-smoking king room on the pool including a free cooked to order breakfast. I understand that there had been some problems with the restuarant in the past, it is now under new management.

The breakfast omlette I ordered (the cook's special with everything) was outstanding. Service was quick and friendly.

The hotel location is very close to Nuevo Progreso, Mexico. Nuevo Progreso is the only border town I'd visit. The city exists for touists and everyone is helpful and friendly. There are numerous good restuarants within walking distance of the Rio Grande bridge. The shopping is better than any other border town I've visited.

Lastly, the pool at the motel is beautiful. It's very clean and surrounded by palm trees. It's a great place to nap or just read a book.

Rooms are not clean...Brought up to manager's ..Didn't seam to care much. Would not go back to this Hotel. Staff at Hotel not at all helpful...I should of known..when making reservation phone rang at least 30 times

First the good news: nice lobby, check in was fine, accomodating front desk staff & management, clean room with dbl sink in bathroom, nice mattresses, average bed linens, pillows were fine, coffee pot & ironing board, clean pool & jacuzzi, nicely landscaped grounds, exercise room, reasonable rates, good customer service overall among the hotel staff.

Bad news : The restaurant -a couple of hairs in my dinner & a manager with a terrible attitude is a bad combination. However, the restaurant is a different company not affiliated with the hotel.

Overall : Would definately go back to the hotel but will never spend another dime in that ratty restaurant.

What to say about a very fine "chain" hotel charging
$ 56,-- tax and full breakfast included with a very large poolside room and a tropical poolarea with three pools close the Mexican border and the Gulf area.
Is's really a bargain and I can recommend this hotel to everybody. Adequate and helpful staff. Great lobby.
Beside the poolarea the premisses are not very attractive and the restaurant will not get a Michelin-Star, but the food is generally ok. Minor complains though.
