This was a terrific place to stay in Burlington. The views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks from our fifth floor room were worth the price of admission. Plus, location, location, location. You can walk to everything. The waterfront boardwalk, aquarium, etc. are right in front of the hotel, and then you only need to go two or three short blocks back and you are on Church Street with access to shopping and restaraunts. I was a little apprehensive about staying here because of the stories about renovations, but when we were there
the only renovations that looked to be underway were out in the parking garage (which is attached to the hotel, but owned by the city - $5/night). Our room did look to be freshly renovated and was much nicer than this hotel's three star rating.

I booked a reservation for UVM Graduation about 9 months ago and was not instructed that the hotel was undergoing renovations. About a week before the stay I was contacted by an employee that stated they were under renovations and offered to move me to a different hotel. That was nice and it was great that they let me know the state of the hotel. However, when i arrived, I was shocked to find that renovations translated to no ice machines, no lobby area, limited menus in the restaruarant, and workers on the floor starting at 6am to about 7pm in the evening. The staff was very nice but when I asked to speak with the manager, Shannon Smith, I didnt feel as if I mattered. I was actually not complaining to her but wanted to let her know what I heard on the buses to the UVM graduation. People were trashing the hotel left and right, and frankly to pay $249.00 a night I do not blame them. Shannon did not come off as caring. She was stand offish and very rude. It was a shame to have that contact with her when all the other staff was much more professional. I would recommend the wyndham once the renovations are completed. The staff was great, the location is great and the price was okay...

“Wait until construction is finished”

This will be a nice place when the construction is finished but right now, it should be closed. There is construction going on everywhere in the hotel and I mean everywhere. There are workers everywhere and messes everywhere. It is very confusing to try and figure out how to get from the reception desk to the parking garage to your room. So much so that the people who worked there were often at a loss as to how to get from one place to another. The fire alarm was going off at one point when we returned to the hotel. There were some people standing outside but we didn't think it out of the ordinary. With all the hammering and banging we had come to expect, we didn't immediately realize what the noise was as we approached the elevator and hesitated. I decided that it probably wasn't safe to continue until we found out what was going on. I sought out and asked an employee if it was safe to go to our room and he said he didn't know, "he thought so", as he wandered off. We left them to figure it out as we left the hotel to get something to eat.

The room was small but nice enough and the bed was comfortable. I did hear some banging on our ceiling in the middle of the night but my husband slept through it. It was a little scary to think that I didn't really know the way out if there should be a fire and the elevator couldn't be used. The exits were not clearly marked.

My advice is not to stay here until the construction is finished. I would like to say that the people who worked here were very friendly and helpful. If it hadn't been for them, this stay would have been unbearable.

I stay at this hotel every year during the Vermont Brewers Festival. It is a clean, well-run hotel with fantastic views of Lake Champlain. It is right across from where the festival is held and is a quick walk to downtown Burlington. Close enough to the action to walk there in 2 minutes, but far enough away to get a good night's rest.

“Wait until after construction...”

We stayed for a single night for $45/night through Priceline.com. The hotel is not very tall and the "view of the lake" is somewhat distorted. You get more of a view of a business building in front of the lake than you do of the lake.

The construction made the stay horrible. Everywhere you went, there were construction crew, paint canisters, plastic on the carpet, etc.

When we arrived, hotel staff informed us that the water was off and it would be off for another half hour. It turned out that the water was off most of the night. Then when the water came on, it spouted out yellow-brown water. We informed the hotel manager of the problems and they took care of things for us.

The room was ok. It wasn't as bad as motel quality. The thing that bothered me most in the room was that in the far corner was a hunk of air conditioning or something that looked like it did not belong there and through construction, they just left it there. We went to another room to shower (due to the yucky water) and that room (which was on a different floor) had a similar structural cosmetic problem.

The pool was also closed due to construction during our stay.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. They were very accomodating.

Overall, I would avoid this hotel until ALL of the construction has been finished. After construction, I think it would be a great place to stay at the priceline price of $45/night.
