We had a two bedroom condo. It was very clean, beds were comfortable, the kitchen had everything you needed and more...
The bedroom windows did not open properly.
The view from the porch was nice.
Make sure you ask for a unit that offers nice views from the bedrooms too, otherwise you end up with a bedroom that faces wooden stairs and is very dark.
Too bad they don't have an outdoor pool, in summer you would prefer not to smell the chlorine...
Overall, we had a good experience and we know what to ask for next time.

“We loved the Theater in the Woods”

Mountainside Resort At Stowe

4 Aug 2005

This place is a great get away. So much to see and so much to do. There are a ton of great restaurants and really neat little shops. The Theater in the Woods was warm, comfortable and very welcoming. It was so relaxing on the screened in porch. The birds singing in the morning and the cool crisp air at night....what could be better??

We went to Stowe for Pres Week. This was our 3rd Pres Week at Stowe and this time we stayed at the Condos at The Inn at the Mountain. Having been to Stowe before but staying in town we thought that these were the condo's that were trailside just up-mountain from the hotel - they are not. Although they are advertised as trailside -they are about 150 yards from the trail and to get to the trail/lift you ski and pole past the tennis courts, then through somebody's front yard, past the pool and then behind the main part of " The Inn at the Mountain" to the lift. This trail is groomed daily and the poling is minimal. Coming home you take the "Home Run" trail which ends in a parking lot about 50-75 yards from the condo's and if there is snow in the lot you can ski/pole to your front door. I only point this out as when we reserved we were told that we would be trailside and it was a bit of a stretch. The condo's that are trailside are not part of the Inn.

The condo we got was probably the nicest resort rental we've ever had - nice furniture and well kept. The restaurant and bar are nice but everything closed at 9pm. My only complaint is a $40 a night service charge that was not disclosed when the rate was quoted. I asked about it at checkout and was told that it was for housekeeping. As we had skipped housekeeping each day and simply asked for fresh towels - I asked if it could be waived to no avail. Pointing out that the industry standard is to include housekeeping in the quoted room rate did not help either.

I must admit that I was a little disappointed when I arrived at the Mountainside Resort. Despite the resort's dated exterior, I was quite satisfied with the interior of the Theater in the Woods, a specific unit within the resort. The Theater was perfectly equipped for a ski weekend for 8. The tasteful decor, proximity to skiing and Stowe village, and the great DVD collection would make me likely to return.

What a great place. Very cozy, beautifully decorated and set up very well for skiers! The entertainment system was wonderful for the one day we had rain, as well as for those lazy evenings when we were so tired from skiing! Would highly recommend this condo to anyone looking for a stay in Stowe!
