Stayed at the Grand Summit for a professional conference, and was quite disappointed. The place seemed pretty empty, but I was given a room with a view of the roof of the ballroom (only -- could not see the mountains at all). I complained, so was moved to a room over the deli -- with the vibration of the refrigeration units directly below all night long. Staff were not accommodating, acted as it was my fault. One staff member walked into my room unannounced, and said in surprise "Oh, this room is usually empty." I understand why.

The studio unit with pull down bed is not for those with bad backs.....but is OK I suppose -- if you don't mind moving the kitchen table first and trying to sleep within 3 feet of the refrigerator hum and the clock on the microwave shining in your eyes. The pillows were like sacks of hard clumped something-you-don't-want-to-know-about -- not comfy!

The hotel has delusions of grandeur, wanting to look like the grand arts and crafts hotels out west, but it fails, squeezing arts and crafts lobby details into a very small space. Lobby and halls are filled most nights with smoke from the lobby fireplace (flue problems? they should not be getting back draft like that, and the scent of old wood smoke in the halls first thing in the morning is not sweet.)

Yes, it is right at the lift gates, and that's probably what you pay for. But as an accommodation, you can do much better. With some work and an attitude adjustment that could truly make this "grand" -- but it seems they don't really care to. Keep looking.

The stay was great. The service was awsome and everything was great even the pool, spa, and the hot tube. There are nice mountain biking trails, hiking trail and ski lift rides. There is bell hop service and valet parking. This is the idle trip to come and releax. If this is what you like to do this is the trip for you.

Nice location on the mountain, nice warm pool. But like it's corporate builder, the hotel lacks soul. Let's hope the new owners of Mt. Snow inject some life into this hotel.

Let me begin by saying that we have been to several 4 star resorts. Also, we are very experienced within the ski industry (Ski Patrollers at another resort). We were apprehensive when we saw some negative reviews however, our experience was very positive:
Service: The employees couldn't do enough for you. Always a smile, very polite and helpful.
Rooms: Clean, very comfortable, could use some updating, A/C didn't work properly but it didn't matter since it was still 20 degrees at night.
Skiing: This was the end of March and beginning of April. Of course it was spring skiing, but it was great. Slopeside accomodations were nice.
Food: This package had breakfast included. Not just a continental breakfast, but a full buffet breakfast. Food and service were excellent. The only problem was that the restaurant opened at 7:30 am. This should open earlier (maybe 6:30 - 7:00) because the lifts open at 8:00.
Property: Common areas were very nice. Good fireplace, Health club had a well heated outdoor pool and 2 hot tubs.

An itemized list will be easier...

1) $345 for one night in a studio room with a PULL DOWN bed.
2) 20 minutes to check in with the manager having to ask his supervisor for special permission to honor my ASC discount.
3) Broken heater in room, single blanket for bed.
4) Skis and poles lost at ski check
5) Cafeteria quality breakfast
6) Dirty, small, and under-equipped health club
7) Waited 20 minutes to get my luggage from bag check and still had to go to get them myself.

For the price, you would think you were staying at a luxury hotel. But the quality is actually that of a discount motor lodge. The only real reason to stay here is to be slopeside, but considering you still have to walk to the lifts, you're better off-resort. I priced local Inns at 1/3 the cost (plus you don't have to pay the $20 per night Resort Fees).
