Ok hotel but the room itself was below my expectations of this usually fine chain. Hotel property somewhat older and a little rough around the edges. Cracks in ceiling. Loose screen on sliding door.

Stayed here for 5 nights and not pleased with set-up. Breakfast only served no restaurant next door but 2 within a block of walking or driving. Access limited to doors at either end of long hall. A plus was the free internet access and comfortable bed. Small rooms too.

We stayed at this hotel this past weekend (6/18 and 6/19) and found the accommodations to be fine and on par with other Courtyards we've visited. The beds were comfortable, the property was clean (including the rooms) and the staff helpful when you needed assistance. The linens were changed daily and the coffee mugs were as well when used (unlike another major hotel in the area). Appears that the previous unfavorable reviews were based on circumstances which may have been unique. I would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend the hotel.

I called the reservation center and made a reservation for the Saturday of UVA's graduation weekend. Since I knew many hotels had a 3-night minimum, I specifically checked that my one-night reservation would be okay. I was assured it would be. I then called the hotel directly to confirm my reservation with them, and they also assured me that I had a one-night reservation.
Relieved to have found a room to share with my sister, I left my house to run errands. The hotel called my mother (long story, but that was the number I left with the hotel, since my parents were paying for the room), and told her that the reservation was a "mistake" and that unless she agreed to pay for two nights, they would cancel her reservation. She was very distraught and unsure of what to do. If I had known that this would happen, I would have stayed home to resolve it myself or would have asked around at other hotels. Panicked, my mother accepted the two nights.
When I called the hotel back AGAIN to confirm our now two-night reservation, I also double-checked that we had, as originally promised, a NON-SMOKING room with two double beds. Like the reservation specialist had assured us, the hotel promised that we had reserved the very last room in the hotel, which happened to be non-smoking with two double beds.
Of course, when my sister and I arrived to the room, it reeked of smoke and was in fact a smoking room. I called the front desk and politely asked if there was a mistake or if we could change rooms. The woman indignantly replied that we only requested a non-smoking room, as they never guarantee non-smoking rooms. Now, although the situation was hardly her fault (and I was not only polite but acknowledged that the situation was not her fault), the fact of the matter is that she didn't take our reservation and had no idea whether we had been guaranteed a non-smoking room.
She offered to send up some Lysol, which never arrived.
I have stayed in Courtyards before and always had a positive experience. I will never stay in this one again, since I believe I cannot trust their word on my reservation. I would hate to show up and not have enough beds or worse, not have a room at all.
We stayed for 5 nights and it was not up to par with what we're used to staying at a Courtyard. The beds aren't real mattresses - they're the thick foam ones and the pillows were old. The tiles in the bathroom cracked and stained and the whole room definitely needed updating. On the other hand, it wasn't a loud hotel - doors slamming, tv from the next room etc. The hot breakfast for our Government rate only allowed 1 person to eat without paying an extra $9 even though the room was double occupancy. The breakfast was good, but on the weekend, complete chaos with a big line to sit down - empty food trays and lots of complaints. They said there was a wedding party staying there, but they should be able to accommodate people when the hotel is full. The hottub was nice - indoors. The other HUGE disappointment was the wireless internet service - it was free, but in the evenings it ran so slowly that you couldn't reach most sites and after spending over an hour on the phone with tech support without a solution - we ended up going to Panera Bread and using their free internet.
