My boyfriend and I stayed at the Dinsmore in December and could not have been more impressed by the charm of the house or the hospitality of the hosts.

The Inn: The inn is at a prime location for exploring Charlottesville. It is just steps from the University and The Corner, where you will find local shops and eateries, and a short drive to Downtown Charlottesville. We were absolutely astonished by how easy it was to check-in and check-out - it was as simple as obtaining and turning in our room key - and parking was equally as easy, as the house had reserved parking spaces located right behind the inn. Breakfast was homemade and delicious, and the hosts, and their dog, could not have been any nicer.

The Room: We stayed in the Monroe Room. It was clean and well-appointed, with colonial-era furnishings, a comfortable queen-size bed, a tv, a closet, and a modern bathroom. In the evenings, it was quiet, which made for a pleasant night's sleep.

We found the Dinsmore to be quite charming, and regret that we didn't stay longer. We will be back!

Very comfortable beds and a welcoming glass of wine at check-in. The innkeeper said there were 100+ restaurants within 2 miles of the B&B. Ended up walking to a casual spot with a patio for dinner. You won't get a better location in town. We didn't make it to breakfast, but it smelled good. The house is very old, but is clean, well furnished and has the modern amenities (cable tv, wireless web, etc).

    • Disliked — No closet, but it's a historic house. There was a clothes hook on the door

“Fabulous Stay at the Dinsmore!”

My husband and I recently stayed at the Dinsmore and had a fantastic experience! The location is walking distance to many great restaurants and shopping. The owners are so helpful, they helped us make reservations at a phenomenal restaurant, Zocalo. We highly recommend it. Everything about our stay was great, especially breakfast - it was a treat! Crepes with blackberries one morning and the next morning was a delicious quiche.

The Dinsmore House needs a renovation! The "Dinsmore Room"'s bathroom is really outdated and showering was less than pleasant. Bathroom's ceiling paint is peeling and entire Inn doesn't have central A/C, only window units. We would have preferred to stay in the Library Room which, although smaller, looked in better shape than the Dinsmore Room and bathroom was more updated.

On positive note, the host was really nice and breakfast seating area was charming.

We stayed here for four days over Memorial Day Weekend in the Monroe and Virginia Rooms.

Both rooms were very well furnished with lovely beds and excellent bathrooms. Breakfast each day was very tasty and all the staff were very pleasant.

Access to the Marriott for both parking and use of the swimming pool is very welcome as is a DVD player in each room and a library of DVD's at reception.

The B&B is located right by the "Corner" at UVA and as such there are
bars, restaurants and some small grocery shops nearby. The tram to the Downtown Mall stops about 50 yards away and runs often.

All in all we were very impressed during our stay and would willingly
recommend the B&B to other travellers.
