Stayed at the Dinsmore for our 25th Anniversary and the stay was wonderful. The owners are super friendly and extremely helpful for finding anything you might want to do. We walked to both the UVA campus and to the Charlottesville Mall where we found plenty to do, eat and drink.

Breakfast was wonderful. Blueberry pancakes and bacon to die for.

We stayed in the Veranda Room which is great on a warm spring day.

We were given a gift certificate to The Dinsmore House in Charlottesville, VA as and for our March birthdays. Our children reside and work in the Washington, D.C. area and wanted us to visit Charlottesville as we drove home from Florida in March of 2008. What a delight The Dinsmore House B&B was. Such friendly owners. Felt right at home. The wine and cheese presentation in the "living room" in the late afternoon was a nice touch. Accomodations were early American replications and quite clean and comfortable. An added touch to our gift was the chilled champagne waiting for us, elegantly presented. The breakfast of berry-filled crepes and other great treats was as close to gourmet as we had had our entire vacation. Would definitely recommed The Dinsmore House to any and all travelers and espcially to those who love bed and breakfast accomodations.

Previous reviewers have pretty much hit the nail on the head. This B&B proved to be friendly, with a good breakfast, big rooms, convenient parking and a can't-be-beat location for walking the UVA campus. Other niceties included a free upgrade to a room that became suddenly available, free DVD's, and wine and cheese in the afternoon. Though our room was on the main st (literally, Main Street), the noise we thought might keep us up on this Fri night never developed. This old, historic place could us some touch-ups on the physical plant here and there -- our bathroom linoleum floor curled at the edges and could have used a more meticulous painting -- but overall our stay was most enjoyable and given the price ($132 for a Fri night) a good value as well. Recommended.

The owners and hosts of the Dinsmore House were extremely friendly and helpful with all our questions. The location on Main Street, walking distance to the university campus and a short drive to the historic old town, was just what we wanted. The garage parking right next door was very convenient. Our group of five took three different rooms for one night. Each room was bigger than I expected, and very nicely decorated. The beds were big and comfortable. Each room has cable TV and DVD player, and you can check out DVD movies from the desk, nice for the winter months. We were unexpectedly treated to wine and cheese in the late afternoon after arrival in the main sitting room. Breakfast included homemade blueberry French toast.

We visited on a cold January night, and our only complaint was the heating system was patchy. In one room, the radiator was too noisy, and another room got too cold in the middle of the night. I'm sure this is only a problem on the coldest nights, not when most people are staying at a B&B.

The heat problems were more than overshadowed by the friendly and efficient service, great location, and nice big rooms. Would definitely return here for our next visit.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Dinsmore in December and could not have been more impressed by the charm of the house or the hospitality of the hosts.

The Inn: The inn is at a prime location for exploring Charlottesville. It is just steps from the University and The Corner, where you will find local shops and eateries, and a short drive to Downtown Charlottesville. We were absolutely astonished by how easy it was to check-in and check-out - it was as simple as obtaining and turning in our room key - and parking was equally as easy, as the house had reserved parking spaces located right behind the inn. Breakfast was homemade and delicious, and the hosts, and their dog, could not have been any nicer.

The Room: We stayed in the Monroe Room. It was clean and well-appointed, with colonial-era furnishings, a comfortable queen-size bed, a tv, a closet, and a modern bathroom. In the evenings, it was quiet, which made for a pleasant night's sleep.

We found the Dinsmore to be quite charming, and regret that we didn't stay longer. We will be back!
