I walked out of my room the first day and there was a sign taped to the door that said, "Caution - Wet Paint on door frame."
Do you think they should let the guests know they are going to paint the door frames in advance? Imagine a woman who only packed one dress and had it streaked with paint.

I went down stairs and could not get back in the room because the security latch closed when I shut the door. It took 30 minutes to get back in my room and the desk clerk and housekeeping thought it was so funny. Well, the clerk showed us how to get in. Those latches are NO security. If a thief opens a door that has one of those latches they will get in!!!

A group of high school or college kids (very drunk) decided to
come back to this hotel at 3:30 AM and cause quite a stir outside in front of the lobby entrance. I bet it woke everyone on that side of the building.

The location is fine, but I would never stay here again.

we stayed at this hotel for one night, we were visiting UVA, and very much enjoyed our stay. it is very close to the university, and near the main streets with cafes and shops (the one nearest the hotel is more for college kids, the one east is supposedly more historical). they were very busy with college move-ins, but the front desk was very helpful and we had no problems. there is free parking, free internet service, which is all great, especially when most places charge you $12-15 a night for wi-fi. the restaurant, although quiet, was perfect for a quick lunch and next day breakfast. the pool was indoors, but clean. the housekeepers very friendly and helpful. overall a really great stay and would reccomend again.

I stayed in the Marriott Courtyard when attending a conference at UVa and found it a very pleasurable experience. The rooms are nice and I didn't notice any of the 'thin walls' and the ice machine, whilst noisy, couldn't be heard inside my room (which was 2 rooms away).

The wifi works well in the hotel and the work environment was really nicely set up (facing accross the room rather than the 'standard' of against a wall. Although, as another reviewer noted using the desk whilst the air-con is on is nearly impossible (or at least freezing cold!).

The hotel is well located for UVa - downtown is nice but a fair walk away (especially in the summer heat). Finally, the "Northern Exposure" Italian resturant directly across from the hotel is a really nice place to eat and there are a number of other resturants and take-aways a short walk in the UVa direction.

Our stay at this property was free due to the redemption of Marriott points, so we really can't complain about the price. Situated across the street from UVA, the location is fantastic. The rooms are clean and the bedding appeared to have been updated, but the overall room decor was pretty standard for a Courtyard. The parking garage was excellent and allowed access to all floors.

The one serious problem with our room was noise from the next room. We could hear the TV in the next room over our TV. After careful consideration, we resolved that this was less a rude neighbor problem than a thin walls problem. Of course, it could have just been our room.
