I recently stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights. i was visiting a family friend at uva hospital and i really enjoyed our stay.
great location, good parking, great walking enviroment basically around the bend from the hospital. large rooms and a very
nice and warm staff. reasonably priced for a couple..not too kid friendly..no pool. i recommend red roof in..request the 6th flr..nice views of the mountains.
We stayed at this hotel while having to be with family at UVA. First off the hotel has a good location to UVA and the hospital area. There are several eateries and bars within an easy walking distance of the hotel. We felt safe in and around the hotel and walking near by. The rooms and lobbies looked to recently renovated as some of the other comments show. One word of caution is that our stay was during the first part of January when it should have been cold. Well during that weekend the temp got to near 80 degrees outside this caused the room we stayed in to be very warm also. We had turned our room air conditioner on with little result. One call to the hotel lobby told us the us a two pipe system and the air conditioning had been shut off for the season. So during our stay the room temp was 74-78 with was a little warmer than we like. Overall we had a nice stay and would stay here again.

Always, always in this place - the old HoJo's now completely renovated. Still, it's a Red Roof: decently priced but no frills. It is closest to the Lawn and the Corner etc. which means that you may be sharing a floor with a sports team come to lose to the Cavaliers. Because of renovation, things seem clean and spiffy but watch out, nonsmokers. I don't think Red Roof has one of those "$50 if you smoke in a non-smoking room" policies but they should. Staff is accommodating. Coffee machines in the lobby are decent. Drive up to the lobby is a big pain. The space is Very Narrow, with barely enough room to get by a parked car waiting to check in. Parking garage underneath should be cleaned up. Be prepared to smell vomit if you should dash over to Little Johns on Sunday morning. If you're an alum, you'll know what I mean.

Nice location to UVA, college bars and dining. No opening windows in rooms, but great free coffee/expresso in the lobby. Staff was nice and easy. No night sounds that desturbed us. Easy walk to several nice restaurants and bars. Covered parking was nice for our motorcycles. Safe feeling area. Nice walk to the campus and beyond. No complaints!
