“OK, but not the "Best"”

The walls of the entranceway are covered with "Best of Charlottesville" awards, but the food didn't live up to this designation. My wife and I were referred here by the concierge at the Omni. The restaurant itself is comfortable, the staff helpful, and the service prompt, but the quality of the food is mediocre, at best. We shared a margherita pizza, a mediterranean salad, and a bottle of wine. The pizza crust was too thick and the sauce was flavorless. The dressing on the sald was much too intense. Next time we will try another Italian restaurant.

My husband and I had dinner at Vivace in December 2006. We were greeted by a very nice host and were seated upstairs at a romantic table for two. Our waitress was pleasant, but she appeared to know some of her customers and chatted with them for long periods of time while we waited on our food. Once the food arrived, we were very pleased. I had a pesto pasta and my husband had the speghetti with meatballs - the portions were huge and we had plenty of leftovers. Both dishes were wonderful and the wine selection was pretty good too. Overall, we had a wonderful cozy dinner and chowed down on some good Italian food. Enjoyed it! We will return next time we are in Charlottesville.

Recently my family and I had dinner at Vivace. There were 5 adults and an infant under 1 years old. Their menu states that parties of 6 or more they add a 20% gratuity. Thats fine. The dinner was not bad. The check comes and we realize that they autograted our check. The infant was not crying, or EATING! Anyway the waitress who was not that great, got less of a tip due to being GREEDY. (I am a bartender and tip fat!) PEACE!

Food is okay. The host was quite rude. Felt very rushed. Food took forever. Overheard waiters being yelled at. Bathroom had an odor.
