“Probably the ultimate in American Inn's”

We have just completed a three week tour of Virginia and the Carolinas and I have to say one of the highlights of our trip was our stay at the Foxfield Inn, Charlottesville. Approaching the property you immediately see its charm sitting proudly in a small clearing in a wood just a few minutes north west of the centre of Charlottesville. We were greeted at the door by Mary Pat the owner along with her husband John. From the moment you enter this beautiful property you can see it exudes character, style and taste. We stayed in the Garden Room, spacious and well appointed with a deep double jacuzzi bath, settee and fireplace. The bay window view of the beautifully landscaped garden brought a certain peace to life. Mary Pat's and John's help with our visit was second to none from the delicious breakfasts to guiding us to several great restaurants and the attractions of Monticello and Montpelier. We would highly recommend this Inn and hope we have the opportunity to stay there again.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed a two night stay (Sunday and Monday) at the Foxfield Inn, located in the beautiful rolling hills just a few minutes northwest of downtown Charlottesville. Our hosts, Mary Pat and John, made us feel completely at home and were quite attentive to our needs and questions about the area. Hot coffee was available before breakfast, and Mary Pat's breakfasts were superb (fresh fruit, omelets, pecan pancakes, a selection of juices). Our room was spacious and immaculate. We stayed in the Audubon room, which featured several J.J. Audubon prints, a very comfortable four poster bed, and a double jacuzzi bath. The dimmer switch on the lights in the bathroom is a nice touch. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and home to a variety of wildlife. During our all-too-brief stay, we saw deer, a gray fox, gray squirrels, chipmunks, goldfinches, blue jays, a hummingbird, a flicker, and a nuthatch. On our 2nd morning, we enjoyed a cup of coffee on a backyard bench in the shade of a huge white oak. We hope to have time to enjoy the outdoor hot tub on our next visit. This was a wonderful way to explore the Charlottesville area. We were 15 minutes from outstanding casual dining at Duner's, 30 minutes from Monticello, and 20-40 minutes from a host of wineries. For a 5 star picnic lunch, stop by the Greenwood Gourmet Deli in Crozet, pick up a delicious sandwich, and take it with you to the Veritas winery in Afton. The Foxfield Inn has it all - location, comfort, beauty, and delicious breakfasts.

My sister and I were looking forward to and desperately needing a relaxing and ejoyable weekend in Charlottesville. Well, I must pat my
self on the back for finding and suggesting we stay at the Foxfield Inn. We walked in and were greeted by the personable Mary Pat and the
smell of cookies baking. Right away she made us feel at home as she walked us through the Inn to point out the emenities (and there are lots of them). The rooms are tastefully decorated and you have plenty
of space. It was so relaxing sitting by the fireplace in our room (it
was a cool May night) while watching yellow finches gather around the
bird feeder right outside our bay window. May Pat's suggestions for restuarants were right on (even down to the time you need to be there
if you didn't want to stand in line). However, she should know good cooking when she sees it. Her breakfasts were beautifully presented and were delicious. We thought the best thing about our trip would be
the Rod Stewart concert. Don't get me wrong...he was good! But, I have to say Mary Pat and the Foxfield Inn got top honors that weekend.

“Peerless hospitality”

Attention to detail and comfort at the Foxfield Inn is surpassed only by the welcoming warmth of Mary Pat whose peerless hospitality and breadth of knowledge regarding anything a visitor would need or want to know borders astonishing.

The great wealth of wildlife, particularly as appeared at the opportunely positioned birdfeeders, offers a nature lover's delight. A short walk down the gravel road that runs at the back portion of their lovely grounds yielded a sighting of twelve white-tailed deer at dusk. Goldfish grace the water-fall pond built by John, and a chipmunk will scamper at some point during your stay.

Guests may be assured that every need will be anticipated and fulfilled with graciousness and goodwill. Expect to relax and be spoiled in a beautiful setting where you will be treated to nature naturing.

Mary Pat's breakfasts are not to be missed, and don't forget to sample her cookies!

My wife and I stayed here after our wedding for a mini two night honeymoon. We loved everything about The Foxfield Inn! The first thing we noticed when we arrived was that the landscaping is immaculate and that the yard is full of mature oak and hardwood trees. The inside of the inn is just as immaculate and well kept as the outside but you still feel at home. The room was welcoming with it's four post bed, gas fireplace and jacuzzi bathtub. What impressed us the most were the little details that made it seem like they had thought of everything. The three course breakfast that Mary Pat makes each morning is stellar! She tries to make sure that each morning the meal is different while each guest is there and even strives to make different meals when guests return for another visit. John will take a portrait of you some where around the inn as an add on that you can purchase and it is well worth the addition as he does a superb job. Mary Pat and John were wonderful and were extremely helpful in offering ideas and recommendations on activities and restaurants to their guests. My wife and I wished we were able to stay longer, but we could not, so we decided that we would definitely be back soon.
