My husband and I stayed at the Silver Thatch Inn for one night as a quick weekend getaway from the Washington, D.C. area. There are a lot of B&Bs in Charlottesville and we had a hard time picking one. We decided on the Silver Thatch Inn because it has a "Last Minute Deal" if you book within 48-hours of your stay, which made the Inn a bargain compared to most other places. I am not a real B&B type and usually prefer a nice hotel. That being said, the Silver Thatch Inn was as nice as most hotels I have stayed in. Extremely clean (which is very important to me), nice decor, and friendly staff. We stayed in the Tyler Room, which I recommend, though it only has a Queen bed. It has a very nice fireplace. And there were cookies on our bed when we arrived - a nice touch.
We ate dinner at the Silver Thatch Inn - all-in-all it was a nice dinner, but the service was a little slow as there was only one waiter for about 6 tables. The food was good, but maybe I expected a little more for the price. The breakfast was great, though, and definitely a plus compared to a hotel.
I definitely recommend the Silver Thatch Inn and I also recommend looking into the Last Minute Deal. We were originally going to stay at the Boars Head Inn, which would have been at least $190 compared to here, which was $119 (and that includes all taxes, breakfast, as well as a complimentary glass of wine for each guest).
