I tried to find a place to stay in Charlottesville, but when I couldn't for a recent vacation, I checked out the Waynesboro area. Found this Hampton Inn, which was very conveniently located right off the highway.

You know pretty much what you'll get at a Hampton - comfortable bed, hot breakfast, and clean room. This Hampton had all that. It was very clean. The breakfast area was kept clean. A nice touch was the chocolate chip cookies out near the coffee area in the evening.

Our room was comfortable and also very clean. We like Hamptons for their "heavenly beds" - pillowtop matteresses that are SO comfortable. This Hampton also had a small refrigerator and microwave in the room, which is always appreciated.

My only complaints, which are minor, is that the pool and work-out room is right near the check-in desk. I wouldn't want people looking at me while I worked out as they passed by the desk. The elevator button on the main floor was broken - pushed in - but still worked. But this was fixed the next day.

The hotel was busy - one day there was a business meeting in the conference room, and the next was a wheelchair event with many of the participants in the lobby. But despite this the hotel ran smoothly - we had no complaints.

I would definitely stay here again when we're in the area. The next exit east (maybe five minutes away from the Hampton) had lots of dining options, and we were only 30 minutes away from Charlottesville and Monticello. It was a very convenient and a pretty area to stay.

This is a very nice Hampton Inn. From the moment you walk through the doors you can tell this is a cut above the rest. The front desk staff (& all the staff for that matter) are both extremely friendly and competent. My room was great with many extras. I think they offer every in-room amenity and extra that the Hampton chain makes available. Also, the breakfast was great and the lobby is really very nice indeed. It's as nice as any 5 star full service hotel lobby. The staff are all so kind and helpful one can't help but enjoy one's stay here. Oh and the cookies in the evening smell and taste great!

This property continues to be a great place to stay. With the retail explosion occurring just down the road at the Waynesboro exit (Target/Kohl's/Home Depot, etc) this area offers the off the road - out in the country experience you would hope for. The hotel continues to be warm, well kept and has a great staff. This trip they added a "Business Center" in the lobby with two workstations for internet browsing and limited printing. A nice touch. Wish there were a few more whole grain type offerings for the breakfast - which has a good range of basic offerings. Accessible to Staunton and Waynesboro this is a great place to base a stay in the area and come "home" to a pleasant environment both inside and out.

“Very Comfortable, very Clean, very Affordable”

Hampton Inn Waynesboro / Stuarts Draft

We stayed at this hotel on the way to the Greenbrier. It was so comfortable, clean and only $100 for the night. This included the pool, exercise room (small) and buffet breakfast with hot biscuits, eggs, etc. I would highly recommend it for families.

I was traveling in the area and making plans rather at the last minute. Having never been to Waynesboro before, I chose the Hampton Inn because it seemed to be the best of what was left available when I made my reservation. I got a discount through AAA and the total for the room was $111 after taxes. It was a basic room, nonsmoking with a king-sized bed. The room was quite spacious; the bed was very comfortable for a hotel bed (especially for a "value chain"), and the linens (duvet, pillow shams, everything) were laundered fresh. The room was clean, and came with a mini fridge and microwave as well as the usual iron, coffee maker, etc. Complimentary WiFi was available and worked well. Breakfast was also complimentary, served from 6-10, and quite adequate for free buffet - cereals, fruits, yogurt, pancakes, sausage, bread varieties, etc. The breakfast area was staffed with a friendly attendant. There was a small workout room, and a pool (but not hot tub), but I did not have a chance to use either. The staff was pleasant and the hotel was peaceful. Parking was free and there was plenty of it. This is not a luxurious hotel but I can find nothing to complain about either. For the money it is an above average value and I would certainly return if I found myself nearby. Quiet, clean, and very comfortable.

    • Disliked — A tad hard to find/inconvenient relative to others in town.
