I tried to find a place to stay in Charlottesville, but when I couldn't for a recent vacation, I checked out the Waynesboro area. Found this Hampton Inn, which was very conveniently located right off the highway.
You know pretty much what you'll get at a Hampton - comfortable bed, hot breakfast, and clean room. This Hampton had all that. It was very clean. The breakfast area was kept clean. A nice touch was the chocolate chip cookies out near the coffee area in the evening.
Our room was comfortable and also very clean. We like Hamptons for their "heavenly beds" - pillowtop matteresses that are SO comfortable. This Hampton also had a small refrigerator and microwave in the room, which is always appreciated.
My only complaints, which are minor, is that the pool and work-out room is right near the check-in desk. I wouldn't want people looking at me while I worked out as they passed by the desk. The elevator button on the main floor was broken - pushed in - but still worked. But this was fixed the next day.
The hotel was busy - one day there was a business meeting in the conference room, and the next was a wheelchair event with many of the participants in the lobby. But despite this the hotel ran smoothly - we had no complaints.
I would definitely stay here again when we're in the area. The next exit east (maybe five minutes away from the Hampton) had lots of dining options, and we were only 30 minutes away from Charlottesville and Monticello. It was a very convenient and a pretty area to stay.
