“Delightful!”

Located in the fascinating old city, right below the Venetian Castro, this hotel is lovely. It is a series of rooms with small balconies overlooking an enclosed garden, with views to the sea. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful - the breakfast was delicious. You must be willing to walk some steep medieval steps to get here, but the location is absolutely charming.

We went to hotel Anixis on our honeymoon. It is a beautiful hotel, small, has only about twenty rooms. Our room had a humble four poster bed and a spectacular view. It is a family run hotel situated in the Kastro, high above the town, the views include the copper dome of the Metropolis Cathedral, the ionian gate and hora harbour. The rooms are clean, furnished with a fridge, a seating area, bed and ours included double glass doors out onto a balchony. It's a short walk to the water front and only a matter of a few steps to the medieval castle where they run wonderful concerts and feed the audience an endless supply of the local liqueur Citron. Whatever you do, do go to one of the castle concerts they are excellent. Our stay in Naxos was absolutely wonderful, the town of Hora is a full of twisting medieval streets, you do tend to get lost but that's all part of the charm. The local red wine is extremely light and delicious (it's the one with the red label, sells for €11 a bottle) and the local cheese is tasty. Check out the supermarket it's tucked back from the waterfront as you head towards the ionian gate, take a right up there somewhere you'll find it. On our way home we met an English woman who owns a house on Naxos, she's been visiting the island for over forty years, when we told her that we had stayed at hotel Anixis she said, 'very good. That's where all the locals tend to book there families into when they come to visit.' It really is a wonderful little hotel, reasonably priced, run by friendly unintrusive people, kept spic and span, brilliantly situated and quiet, no loud thumping nightclubs! Enjoy.

My husband and I spent 4 nights at the Anixis in May 2008. I always prefer to stay outside the major tourist hub, and in May, the Anixis offered a true glimpse of local Naxos. Though just a short (once I learned my way through the meandering alleys) stroll to the port, in the immediate area of the hotel I saw no tourist shops and few tourists. The hotel itself is simple, but lovely and spotlessly clean. The inside lobby is a bit dark, but a large top floor terrace and balcony overlooks the sea: a great place to sit by yourself or join friends for artichokes and a bottle of wine. The views and sizes of the rooms vary; our room was spacious with a small balcony and view to the sea. Amenities included a ceiling fan as well as AC, TV (which we never watched), and a hair dryer. Service was not hovering, but excellent. Front desk staff were always glad to answer questions and we returned one day to find, in addition to the laundry line we'd strung across the balcony, a small drying rack hung over the balcony railing. Whoever had cleaned the room obviously noted our tendency to handle our washing ourselves and, without us asking, made the job easier. Breakfast is offered for an addition charge, but we chose instead to sample fresh breads from the bakery just down the street. I'm smiling now, just remembering my stay.

I stayed at Anixis Hotel on August 2007.

Hotel director was awaiting for us at the port (I recommand to reconfirm your arrival date and time). Do not panick if you don't see him with his shuttle, he will probably be waiting for you a little bit appart from the port, because it is verrrrrry crowded. I highly recommend to use this transfer (included in the price), otherwise it must be difficult to find the hotel by yourself, especially with your heavy luggage ;-)

Hotel is located on top of Hora, you've got this feeling you're actually on top of the world. We had a large balcony, view from our room was breathtaking ! View from the breakfast room was the same, very nice. I recommend to spend a few more euros and ask for these sea-view rooms.

Hotel itself is very calm, confort is ok (but nothing luxury), and location is great, think its best to stay at Hora than on the beaches. 'Cause Naxos'Hora is just great.

We had a great time in Anixis. A nice hotel, close to the Kastro. Quiet in the evening and night and during the day. Friendly people, clean room, nice vieuw on the see.
Breackfast was okay; self service. A lot of flowers in the garden, that bloom in the evening and night. A lovely smell!
If we ever go back to beautiful Naxos will certainly will stay in this hotel.
