From the time of arrival (was met at the ferry and taken to hotel), until the time after departure, (kept our luggage for us while we repacked lighter for a short stay in Santorini and was coming back to Naxos), this hotel couldn't have been more accommodating. After arrival we had a sample of Kitron (local Naxos Liqueur) and then were shown to our rooms which were small but very clean and airy. The owners helped us rent a car, recommended restaurants and in general were very helpful and made us feel at home. The breakfast buffet overlooking the ocean was complete with many choicesas well as being delicious. The hotel was a short walking distance from the town. One afternoon when we came back to the room, a bottle of wine was left in our rooms. I would definitely recommend the Hotel Grotta and if ever I return to Naxos, wouldn't stay anywhere else.

My wife and I recently spent 3 nights at the Grotta Hotel as part of our trip through the Greek Islands.

We chose the Grotta Hotel based on the many, many excellent comments from previous guests who have placed their reviews here on Trip Advisor. I can say with all honesty that we were not disappointed. Dimitris collected us from the airport, drove us back to the hotel, gave us a glass of Kitron (a local specialty) and explained to us about the Hotel, Naxos Town and a few ideas as to what we could do and see. We were made to feel very welcome indeed.

We found our room to be clean, spacious and we had a balcony overlooking the ocean, Naxos Town and the Temple of Apollo. The breakfasts each morning were a real feast, with a great variety of fruits, breads, cakes, cereals etc., all very fresh.

Dimitris, and the lovely Marin in the bar, were wonderful hosts and I can thoroughly recommend the Grotta Hotel to anyone planning a trip to Naxos.

This hotel is the best on the island of Naxos. Superb service from a family whose only aim is to the complete satisfaction of their guests. Free transportation to/from the port or airport combined with very warm welcome at reception. The breakfasts are a banquet “par excellence”, including fresh fruits from the family garden and home made cake and cookies. The rooms are exceptionally clean and well appointed and the hotel is situated in a charming position with magnificent views of the famous Naxos Gate and distant islands and well away from the bustle and noise of the town. Take your camera because the sunsets just have to be photographed. There is a wonderful cliff walk to the hotel from the town, so much nicer than dodging the traffic on the main road. We have stayed in many five star hotels and for friendliness and service we would award the Grotta seven.

Can't understand the fantastic ratings of this hotel distributed by other reviewers. While the hosts are friendly, the rooms are of poor quality. I booked directly with the hotel for a double room for three nights at 62€/night, and it turned out that we had to move to another hotel the second day due to the noisy surroundings. Our room is no. 49, the room is small & decorated as a budget hotel (not at all as shown in their website). We can hear noises of cars & motocycles from the main route & streets nearby, noises from bar & breakfast room just under our room on the ground floor (animation lasts until midnight & starts from 7:30 a.m). The water heater or some other machine on the roof starts to function & makes a terrible noise at around 6:45 a.m. The double glazing is thin & can't help at all. During our one-night stay at the hotel, there were at least two tourist groups staying there, and our room is just among those of the group members. I wonder if Hotel Grotta is a family hotel for groups. Easy to imagine, I just couldn't sleep during my night at Hotel Grotta.
