We stayed at the Astir for 5 days in June. First there was no one to pick us up at the port, even though we had sent an e-mail prior to our departure and also had the Greek owner from our previous hotel call on the previous day to arrange the pickup with the people at Astir. We waited 30 minutes at the port and finally took a cab to the hotel. When I asked the manager why we weren't picked up, he said something about his son forgetting, and did not offer to pay for the cab fare. We came in a little earlier than check-in time and the daughter of the owner gave us a glass of kitron liquor to make us wait, which was nice (she was the only "sincerely" nice person on the staff). Once the room was ready, some handyman in overalls told us to follow him (as we carried our own bags) to our room. Our room was large and clean, and located on the ground floor but a bit out of the way so it was very quiet (except for that night when the oh-so-loud alarm went off in the whole hotel for no reason - what a stressful experience) - the room had everything we needed including a safe and a mini-fridge, and we found the air conditioning very pleasant, though we did not turn it on very often since it never got too hot in the room despite the high temperatures outside. One thing that really was unacceptable, is that we had booked a "honeymooon room" through the internet, and found out that our room was a standard room. Since they charge more for the special romantic decoration that you see on the web site, we went to the front desk and asked if this room was indeed a standard room. The owner acted as if he did not understand and said that all the rooms in the hotels were the same. (so there are no "suites" as advertised on the site, which explained why we could not book one and had no reply when inquiring about them via email). So we asked why they charged two different prices through the site if all rooms were the same, and after a while the owner said something about his son being responsible for the web site, but refused either to admit that we were mislead or offer us the normal room rate. As we did not want to start a fight with this somewhat unpleasant person, we figured we would print out the internet form to have proof to show and ask for the normal rate at chekout, which we did. The owner then first refused and tried to charge us the "honeymoon" rate though we stayed in a standard room, and when my husband insisted he finally complied while complaining once again about his son.
We finally got to meet his son in person, for he was supposed to drive us back to the airport, but as it turned out, he said he could take us only at one specific time. We explained that we needed to be at the airport earlier to be sure to catch the plane, but he obviously did not want to bother with us, even though it would have taken him 10 minutes to drive us there and drive back to the hotel, and he seemed in no rush. We ended up calling a cab and paying 9 euros for a 5 minute ride.
So don't trust anything you see on their web site, including the type of room you might want to book or the "free transfer" that they advertise. We were not displeased because of the extra money we paid, but rather because we did not feel respected as guests and had to fight just to be taken seriously.
The breakfast was not great.
All in all, you might want to consider a different place, since 70 euros per night, even though it might seem like a bargain, is expensive for Naxos. You'll find a lot of cheap accomodation on the island.
