We, a family of three, stayed for five nights at Galini & Sofia in June of 07. I have delayed writing this review as I did not think I could be as complimentary as I hoped to be. First the good: The hosts of the hotel went above and beyond - the welcome, sending out our laundry, getting a rental car, cabs, telling us the pros and cons of the different beaches, they really help you out. The town of Naxos, so charming , lovely alley ways to explore, and great food and really great prices. The beaches oh my, love love loved Anna and St. George, Prokopios, etc. are all lovely with super tavernas and chaise side service of ice cold Mythos! Now the not so good: we unfortunately were there during a heat wave and it was hot even for the greeks. By 3:00 in the afternoon it was so hot we had to huddle in our hotel room in enforced siesta. It would not begin to cool down until 9:00 at night. We wanted to do more exploring, but did not due to the heat. The room was not the best in the hotel - although clean, no balcony - no view, and although well furnished, sooooo small and so tiny of a bathroom it made me angry to try to use it. I would bang my elbows and soak everything in the room. But great rate! and yogurt with honey for breakfast that I am still thinking about. So I guess if you get a room with a balcony/view and if there are any rooms with a bigger bathroom - and if you are not there when it is so sweltering hot - it would be pretty close to perfect.
