I will start with the good points;
The hotels public areas are amazing it was always very clean and tidy, the snug areas are extra cosy (especailly at night with all the candles lit), sunbathing overlooking the sea with a G&T from the honesty bar was truely relaxing and felt quite luxurious and trendy.
The staff are all very friendly.
Breakfast was good and available until 11am which was appreciated.
There is one (and only one) really lovely restaurant in the local town called the Mijas Player, definately worth a visit!! lovely food, great service and live entertainment on the beach-front.
The bad points;
The hotel is literally on a motorway!! The beach is horrible and the sea is so rocky you can't really get in it even if you wanted to.
I was very dissapointed with our bedroom, there was a very small broken set of drawers tucked away behind a curtain which was the only place to put your clothes - We basically had to live out of our suitcase all week.
They had the tiniest, oldest television you have ever seen which did not work at all and therefore was pointless, there was no CD player or radio either.
The room was very small and not boutique at all, there were two beds pushed together with one bedside table to make this a double room.
There was no fridge in your room which meant you had to walk to the pool side bar if you wanted some water in the morning or in middle of the night. The hotel do not do lunch and the town is a long walk along the motorway - (lovely!) at mid day and the sherif was awful so it would have been nice to be able to at least keep some lunch items in a fridge.
'The Sheriff' which is the only establishment close to the hotel is awful! awful service, awful food and an awful atmosphere - aviod.
The atmosphere around the pool is so quiet and boring, nobody felt like they could talk to anyone it was all a bit strange and more like being in a silent big brother where we couldnt leave the compound ever as there was literally no where to go! We felt some organised events like a BBQ would be a great idea for a more friendly, fun atmosphere! You are on holiday after all!
The local town is far from picturesque there is absolutly nothing of interest to do at all, no trips, no water sports, no history or culture, the hotel staff did not have any ideas of anything we could do without hiring a car.
The bus's were unfortunately on strike for our entire stay although the thought of an hour long trip into Marbella on an non- airconditioned bus did less than fill me with joy anyway! it cost £60 for a round trip in a taxi to Marbella - If you do venture there stay in the old town, the beachfront looks more like blackpool with concrete council flats for hotels than the posh, cosmopolitan area it boasts about!! We decided Costa Del Boy would be much more apt.
So all in all it was a lovely hotel in the wrong location!!! a week is too long here, for a long wkd of just relaxing it would be a good choice but I was very disapointed unfortunately.
