We spent a week at the Alicia from 4 - 11 July, and the weather was incredible - not like our previous trip to Majorca!!

The Hotel has very pleasant decor; the staff are incredibly friendly; the food was good; and it's situation is very pleasant.

Our only gripe - someone ought to monitor the reserving of sunbeds. By 8.00 am every morning, every sunbed that had a sunshade or tree was taken by towels!! Not people - just towels!! I appreciate that in the past we have always blamed the Germans for this, but as there wasn't a single German in the Hotel, the Brits have obviously learnt how to do it better. This should be monitored by the staff, as they do have a sign that forbids reserving sunbeds.

I would agree with another 'Reviewer' that the entertainment was extremely good, but the two girls running the so called sports and games, and sometimes the entertainment, need to polish up their act. They were awful - more interested in chatting up the younger men!!

We stayed at the hotel Alicia for the first time for 2 weeks from 23rd june this year. First impressions as you enter the hotel is how clean fresh and bright it looks, all white and pale blue. The receptionists are all very nice and helpful and spoke english which was nice. The rooms were a good size we were on the top floor over looking the sea it was great, they were cleaned every day, I do agree with a previous review that the air con. in the rooms is not very effective and is noisy. All the stairs, corridors and bedrooms were carpeted so no noise from scraping chairs or shoes. The dining room was bright and modern and we did not have a problem with the food at all ,we used to go down for our meal about 7.30 it was always hot and we didn't have to queue to get in at all. The al a carte meal was very good served in a beautiful dining room over looking the sea. The bar area was very large and nicely furnished and the bar staff were very friendly and remebered what drinks you had. The pool area ,and pool were cleaned daily and there were plenty of sun beds. The evening entertainment acts that came in were brilliant, Elvis, Abba, Graham Powell (v. good) and Dylan Cassidy (rods son also v. good) and le divo tribute. Now my moan and this is the only thing that let the hotel down very badly were the two hotel entertainers who in my opinion were very unprofessional, uninterested in the guests and lazy, 3 nights they forgot to put the stage lights on for the acts, most evenings the mike didn't work , in the daytime they just shouted out if anyone wanted to play the games and when some guests did join in they hadn't got a clue what was going on and was more interested in talking to each other, one afternoon they even went to sleep on the stage, they just didn't seem to have a clue!
This hotel is only a 3* and we thought it was great I would recommened it to anyone and we hope to return next year.

Stayed at the Ailcia for 4 nights early June, the view from our balcony was shrubland and not beach and sunbeds as shown in Portlands brochure, our worst experience ever was the dining room on our first night. Dining time is 19.00 till 21.00, we do not like to eat that early so we went 20.15 to be greeted by a surly waitress who did'nt want us to sit where we wanted too, our first course was cold and then the staff started to clear away the remaining dishes so we quickly had to get out main course and dessert we were finished within 25 minutes, so we ate out our remaining nights not wanting to go through this again. We realised that the only way you can get a hot meal with better service is if you are prepared to queue up outside the dining room and up the stairs to be in there as soon as it opens, the staff seem to want to finish and clear up by 20.30. We will not be going back.

My 2 daughters and I have just returned from a wonderful holiday. This is the 3rd year running I have visited the Alicia and we were not disappointed. Yet again the staff were 1st class and the hotel spotless. However, my only moan would be the shortage of vegetarian options in the restaurant and the A la Carte restaurant not offering a single vegetarian dish! My faddy teenager wasnt impressed...however upon asking they are more than happy to adapt the menu to suit..result! All in all a wonderful holiday, should we find ourselves returning to Cala Bona we would be certain to stay at the Alicia again .

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Alicia.

We was given a great room (103) on the first floor with a great sea view/huge verander, and plenty of room for me my partner and my 4 year old daughter.
Rooms very light/fresh and clean.
Althought some of the rooms over looking the pool are a little small and cramped as my inlaws found out.

This hotel is in a fantastic location and i dont think you could beat it, with plenty to walk to, one way is to the shops and harbour or the other leads to cala millor.Which ever way you go it all remains flat and is a lovely stroll to either along a nice promanade.Just by the hotel there is a bike hire shop with all types of bikes, battery operated cars/bikes/pushchairs for your toddlers. We hired a 4 seater bike with 2 seats at front for children which are daughter loved, it cost 7euros for an hour.
Then the next day we hired a 6 seater so are inlaws could come along and we had a nice ride to cala millor.

The hotel food was great very english food.
For lunch we ate at the hotel bar once it was ok, but then we found the Atalon across from the Alicia did nice food and also the Brother bears bar towards cala millor did nice lunch time snacks.

This hotel had many retired and elderly guests who were mostly very nice apart from a few, we felt very young and it was not very good for are 4 year old daughter, at one point she was the only child in the hotel. The hotel doesnt cater for young children and it was even effort for the two young girl entertainers to provide the mini disco which was advertised on the board, and more important to keep the bingo players happy.
There is no mini club/or daytime kids club even though the two girl entertainers had nothing to do and spent most days sunbathing or sat chating to the same couples around the pool each day as no one wanted to take part in the day time games they provided.

This was the only bad thing i could say regarding this hotel it was a huge let down for my little girl as every other hotel we have stayed in has catered for children.

Now whether this will change as you get deeper into the holiday season i would love to know?

It was a huge shame for us as this hotel is of very high standards in a great location.

So if you are a couple i dont think you'll be disapointed, but if you are a young family dont expect much for your kids.

All in all we had a good holiday, but it could have been better for my little girl. We had good weather all week and it was getting hotter each day.
