“Hated this hotel, food terrible and resort very limited”

Hotel Marina Corfu

We decided to try the Marina Corfu in Cala D'or for a change for this week. We had been told it was a fab hotel and food was excellent. Well I don';t know what our recommended friends eat but we found the food absolutely disgusting. There was nothing wrong with the food when raw it was just they did not know how to cook it. All overcooked, like rubber , terrible choice, if at all any choice. It is situated within a small area of shops and bars but if you like to walk, as we do, it was a case of walking along boring roads where you never met anyone. No promenade as such just streets. We were very disappointed. Obviously the pouring rain did not help as we tried to walk to the Marina and got drenched. The minute beach area was wet through so no one could venture out there and you have to pay for the sunbeds on this stretch. There is an area around the pool with sun beds but very limited and not enough for the number of guests at the hotel. The lounge (as called) was more like a small cafeteria and not at all comfortable. Entertainments were supposedly outside but had to be abandoned because of theweather. Entertainment was at the sister hotel inside but very small and could not accommodate the sister hotel guests let alone the Corfu guests. Reception were extremely nice and helpful and when we asked if we could transfer to another of the Marina group hotels they happily obliged (obviously done it on numerous other occasions). We got our own taxi and were glad to leave Cala Dor. In the middle of the back of beyond and very boring. Certainly not for us. We were told by the locals afterwards that Cala Dor is named "The ars..... (politely put meaning back passage) of Majorca. When we landed at the othe rhotel we were just in time for the Tornado but after that our holiday was good. We would never have lasted out a week at the Hotel Corfu. Another thing we did not like. The balconies (we were overlooking the pool) were solid wall, very high, so you could not sit on your balcony and have a nice view, all you could see was the wall. The balconies were quite large but all went out into a projected middle point. Unfortunately this meant that if you were in your bedroom and wanted a lie down, or watch TV, read etc., when the next door went on their balcony they were looking into your room. Not very comfortable at all. had to draw the curtains.
The worse [part of all was the food though. It was disgusting and we could only give it a munis 5 out of 10, it was so bad. If you like to walk around, with a nice promenade and a good resort with a hotel with good food, do not go here, you will be disappointed. We read the reviews before we went and they were definately NOT as good as we were lead to believe.

“Brilliant hotel”

Flew from Manston in Kent with seguro holidays who were excellent. We requested a sea view room and got one. All staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. For a three star hotel it was a very high standard. Rooms were large with three beds and always kept very clean. Food was slightly repetitive but you could always find something, breakfast was the best. The location of the hotel is perfect for everyone, right on a really sweet little beach. We will certainly return next September when there are not too many children. All in all an excellent break.

My wife and I stayed from 15th-22nd Sept and travelled with Cosmos.

We usually try to book 4* when going all inclusive and were slightly apprehensive about tthe Marina Corfu, but we need not have worried as it was excellent.

The rooms were very good, appeared to have been re-furbished recently with lovely bathrooms and a fridge. We didn't have a very good view as we were not on the pool/sea side so i would definately try and request a sea view.

The food and drink were excellent, the only down side being the plastic cups, but do as we did in the evening and take a glass from the restaurant and swap your drink in to it, makes a big difference!

The beach and sea were lovely and unbelievably close. We didn't realise how lucky we were until we walked into Cala D'or (10 mins) and saw how cramped the resorts beaches were. The pools at the hotel were fine, although the sunbed game every morning was a bit of a drag. As everyone else says, they are unlocked at around 08:55 and by then people are stood 'guarding' the stacks of them intent on getting a 'comfy' bed. There were a lot of broken beds and this is due to the heavy handidness of the staff clearing them away at the end of each day. there are a limited number of 'comfy' beds and these are what everyone was queing for. I imagine the hotel will be getting a new supply for the next season (I hope so anyway!)

The entertainment team were great, not pushy at all, but made you feel welcome to join in anything they were arranging. Daily there was football, volleyball (if You asked them to play it), waterpolo, rifle/pistol/archery, and the marina game. Oli and Paolo get very competitive but amusing and Stefan gets very annoying as he thinks he runs the entire hotel. Don't be a minute late for football or he will tell you off like a school child!

All in all we both loved this hotel. It was excellent value for money and we have already decided to shortlist it for next year. We travelled outside of the high season and found the mix of age ranges perfect. There were a good number of small children, hardly any teenagers and quite a few couples.

We are expecting our first child in April so my wife was 12 weeks pregnant when we travelled and was worried about the food. But she loved it too and has said that we should go back the same time next year as it appeared perfect for babies and young children.

We stayed at the Marina Corfu for a week in september (15th-22nd) and found the hotel to be superb, we travelled with our little girl who is almost 3 so needed some where suitable for her , the room was very clean and had possibly been re furbished within the last couple of years, with a fridge and also a hair dryer .

The beach is right next to the pool so was perfect for the little one to pop down to without packing up and leaving the hotel, snacks all day and an endless supply of ice cream and lollies for the kids from the pool snack bar, or lunch in the hotel between 13.00 15.00, the food at breakfast , lunch and dinner was superb with plenty of choice for all .

The hotel was only about half full as its term time in the uk, but we found this to be to our advantage as our daughter was invited to join the mini club for the daytime activities which are normally for 4 - 12 year olds, and the reps (Sarah and Cynthia)we're fantastic with all the children there.

Cala D'or town centre is about a 30 minute walk away and is well worth a visit if only to see the superb boats in the marina, there is also a small amount of gift shops, pubs and restaurants directly outside the hotel if you do fancy a break from the all inclusive menu, but we never as i said before the food in the hotel was of superb quality and choice.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the cleaners are possibly the most cheerful we have ever met on holiday.

I can imagine the hotel being a lot busier in the summer holidays and the pool could become quite cramped in the high season as its not the largest area , but as we travelled out of term time we had no such problems

A superb time was had by the 3 of us

“Great for young families”

Hotel Marina Corfu

The Marina Corfu is a few miles outside Cala D'or in a small resort called Cala Egos. We stayed as a couple an enjoyed our ten days but felt that although we could not fault the hotel for cleanleness, friendy staff and facilities that it was more ideally suited to young families. However I would say that the all inclusive deal is vert good value and that the food quality was also good.
