husband and i stayed at this hotel in sept 07. silver wedding treat .rooms were clean and compact.downside was the view from the balcony, just a tree it blocked the whole balcony.food was ok if only they had said what it was it was more caterd for the germans.breakfast consisted of eggs eggs and more eggs only fried one day boiled the next.no tomatoes or mushrooms.air con was practically non existent.no entertainment at hotel. this isnt strictly true if you wanted to watch sport all in german.the pool was the size of a pond. childrens section of the pool was only big enough to take two small children.very quiet at the pool you only felt you had to whisper so as not to disturb the other guests as they were reading their latest novel.snack bar at the pool was a wooden shack it was never open it looked derelict to us.only means to get a drink at the pool was a vending machine.cala.dor was excellent for bars and restarauntsbut you kept going round in circles rather boring after a while.you have to walk down a street to get to the pool. it is not connected to the hotel and it is in a yard surrounded by high walls.

having previously stayed at this hotel,we were really looking forward to our holiday. We booked with direct holidays[for the last time]and we had a poor start when we arrived in palma as we were shown to our bus and sent on our merry way[no rep].On arriving at the hotel we met with the excuse that the hotel was overbooked and shown to the staff accomodation for our first night, which was a nightmare. The following morning we were given rooms in the main hotel[we booked this a year in advance].The hotel itself was lovely and clean which was a surprise as there seemed to be no staff,ie same person doing reception bar and dining room.Brochure states the following,1 pool bar[closed for 5 years]2pool table[plastic table next to pool to sit your drink on that you cant buy from closed bar not the game of pool]3sea views[dont exist]telivision room[ok if you speak german despite hotel mostly british residents].Food was poor and never labled what it was and it was never easy to tell.My wife is diabetic so this was a problem.I hope if you go to this hotel you dont like potatoes as we only seen them twice in a fortnight. Most rooms seemed ok but our room 109 was like fawlty towers radio did not work air conditioning unite missing and the shower could not wash the soap out of my hair as the water trickled out.Itried to complain about these problems but felt i was treated as a nuisance.THE BEST OF ALL USE THE SOCKETS AT YOUR OWN RISK THE SPARKS WERE BRIGHTER THAN THE LIGHTS.As for the owner [basil]he always is quick to serve his guests as long as they are german. This hotel will never put me off the resort as it really is one of the islands finest but they tried their best.

Landed in Palma on a hot sunny day, went with direct holidays who showed us to the coach but we had no rep on board. Hotel is on the main road and we were on the second floor. There are only stairs and many of them so if you find walking difficult request first floor as there is no lifts. Rooms clean and air conditioning only came on during the night a couple of hours at a time. We were on the end were a generator was going all night which was very noisy if you were a light sleeper.
There was a variety of food in the evenings but if you happended to be there when many german familys were there the food tended to sway there way. Second week was better as there was more english in the hotel. Breakfast changed on a two day turn around boiled eggs one day eggs and bacon the next. The pool was small and the bar area was closed went to tropical gardens which is down the road for the pool and bar. A bit of a hill to the beach at carla gran so hard work to get back up. No evening entertainment so tropical gardens live entertainment every night 5 mins walk away.
Would recommend this hotel for couples who wish to have a quiet holiday not suitable for familys with kids as mine moaned as there was nothing to do there. Perhaps go again when they leave home.

“cosy and central”

location. central but not noisy, bars and resterants aplenty, the walk down to the cove beach was easy enough, but the afternoon walk back up to the hotel was rather draining if you have the usual beach gear to lug. Especially if the hotel owner has,nt turned the air conditioner on, this im afraid was on a timer which guests have no control over. These grumbles aside the owner and staff where pleasant and helpful. The food at the hotel was a little hit and miss, breakfast was ok but nothing to write home about, The chef does two types of boiled egg, not cooked and very well cooked, dont say you dont get a choice, salmonela or constipation, only you can decide. Joking aside the food wasnt to bad,and anyway you know you like eating out really. The rooms where clean and tidy,no problems here. The hotel is divided into two small hotels, you either get the pool or the restarant, pool is a little small, no bar , but private and pleasant. The resort is cozy , lots of life but still manages to be couple and family friendly.Overall the hotel has one or two faults but not enough to spoil a great resort, if the price is right you can look forward to a nice holiday. Besides, faulty towers wasnt perfect but we all enjoy that dont we. P.S Funnily enough the tall slim chap who owns the hotel is german.

The Hotel Ses Puntetas in Cala d'or is well situated in a tree lined avenue close to the shopping areas and only 10 minute stroll to the nearest beach which is one of the prettiest coves for swimming in, it was never overcrowded when we were there in July. There are about 5 coved beaches all near each other in Cala d'or some a lot busier than others. Car hire is available at the Hotel or you can rent a car from the agents just along the road.
The Hotel is very clean indeed and the staff are very pleasant and friendly. The dining room is spacious and bright (although the hotel website images don't do it justice) and the variety of hot and cold food was of a very high standard thanks to Alfonso and his staff. Reviews on other sites criticise the food as being orientated towards the British nation but this was certainly not the case here, seafood, pasta's, paella etc.were served alongside roast beef, veal, chicken, pork, various fish dishes and the breakfast's were equally varied all served on a buffett basis, help yourself to as much.
There are 2 parts to the Hotel, we stayed in the main part , the other part has the outdoor swimming pool which was quiet and adequate, I cannot comment on the rooms in this part as i never saw inside them but the room we had in the main building was very clean and well serviced daily and of a good size even though there were 2 adults and 1 child in the party.
The only critiscism i can find is the air conditioning which is set by the hotel to come on only at 17.30 until 19.00 and then at 22.00 until 02.00 in the early morning, in July when we were there we would have benefited from it on a bit longer. We would even pay more to have this facility available as the cost of the weeks holiday was well under £300 for the 3 of us.
Overall this Hotel is excellent value for money, clean, tidy and well serviced but if you need cooling down in your room at your convennience then bring a fan with you !
The review's that i read before going to this Hotel did worry me a bit but on arrival they were completely unfounded (apart from air conditioning). On a humourous note keep an eye out for the German Basil Fawlty ! who is very similar in his movements and style and even on occasion his slight abruptness, (don't worry he won't put you off) i believe he is a part owner along with other members of his German family.
