Have just returned from an excellent stay at the Riu Bonanza Playa hotel in Illetas, Majorca. Before booking, I'd read carefully the reviews of several hotels and what everyone said about the Bonanza Playa is true. It's well situated, just 15 minutes by bus from Palma and right on the waterfront. Rooms and facilities are great and the management takes the time and trouble to welcome you personally and ask for feedback; nothing was too much trouble. When it rained they put on a selection of activities.

This hotel is one of a selection of four star establishments in Illetas - Melia, Barcelo Albatros, Bon Sol, Illetas Roc (the latter being further out but closer to the main beach).

I'd recommend it to everyone without small children (there's no children's pool or activities).

You would have to work very hard, or have highly unrealistic expectations, to find many faults with this hotel in my view.

We had a three night stay and felt that the levels of customer service and care were some of the best we have had - friendly, courteous and very polite staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Examples of this were free drinks at the bar while we were checked in, visits to our table from the Head Waiter on our first night in the restaurant and warm greetings each time we walked through Reception; quick and attentive service in the bar and restaurant, and valet parking of our car when we couildn't find a space nearby. Fruit, wine and sweets were also delivered to our room.

We had two rooms for our party of two adults and two children, and by booking a triple and a single not only did we get a larger room for the triple and a double for single use, we also paid £70 less than if we had reserved two doubles. We did this direct with the Thomson accommodation only service - far cheaper than any other supplier I could find, and I tried a lot! The rooms are not spectacular but are very clean and OK for a 4 star, with nice bathrooms. The TV had BBC1 and Channel 5. The views were great - a wide panorama over the Bay of Palma, with lots of toing and froing of ships and aircraft, but no noise. As far as I could make out, all rooms would have a sea view.

Food, both breakfast and dinner, was good - plentiful, hot and quite varied with some live cooking.

Any downsides? Well, Illetes is a good place for a short break or a base for Palma, but it doesn't really have a heart and soul - just Hotels and some private houses and a very limited range of shops. Not what I would call an authentic Mallorcan experience but very pleasant nonetheless. Your fellow clients are most likely to be quite mature - this makes for a very polite, gentle and quiet ambience but it's not really the place for young families or couples, even less for groups of young friends.

A good quality Hotel; we liked it.

Just returned from holiday today. I would rate the Hotel 4 star, nice rooms, excellent food, nice location, staff very polite and friendly. On the downside was that the outdoor pool is a freshwater pool and is never heated; the indoor pool was around 26c which for me was too cold!!
We had the same experience as someone else who visited and wrote a review, i was challenged by the female manager when she asked me if i would change my questionnaire regarding the pool temperature. I stated that it was my opinion, however, she was extremely persistent for me to change my questionnaire to read good because she advised that she would increase the temp of the indoor pool. This was the only downside to the hotel experience, she is too over zealous.

Worth visiting.

Recently returned from the hotel Bonanza Playa in Illetas, this is a lovely hotel. It ovelooks the sea and has its own small private beach. This hotel is ideal for families with small children (kids club available) or for couples. The resort may be a little too quiet for teenagers.
The hotel is spacious has a lovely dining area and the food was excellent, buffet style plenty of choice. There was three of us in our bedroom and we had plenty room. There is no need to take beach towels as they are provided every day by the hotel. I found this a real bonus not having to pack them.
I booked this hotel and flights through [--]. The website was quick and easy to use. I received an email back to confirm my booking and when I called to pay my balance the staff were really helpful and friendly.
[--] gave me lots of flights and hotels to choose from and the prices were great! I will certainly use this website again.
