“Avoid the sausages ! Everything else GREAT !!”

Hotel Arena

We stayed for a week in March on a bed and breakfast basis which worked out really well. We had a junior suite which was literally 3 steps away from the pool - fantastically appointed. The pictures on the website don't really do it justice! Our room was serviced everyday and was very clean. When we arrived the staff had arranged our towels into the shape of swans and there were artifical flowers on them - we had a good laugh at them and it was a nice touch! Breakfast was very well presented although I have to agree that some of the hot items (mainly the sausages - although the mushrooms were canned and the scrambled eggs were not seasoned, making them taste a little unusual!) were ok for a couple of days but you couldn't eat them everyday.
We didn't eat any evening meals at the hotel so cannot comment, we preferred to walk into the centre where there were many restuarants to choose from. However we did come back early on two occasions and had a drink in the hotel bar which was really quiet - not really worth a visit.
We had a really good holiday - probably because we hired a car for the whole week and got to explore the island. Would have no issue staying at this hotel again. Not really a four star but pleasant anyway. If you book this hotel expect a decent, clean environment, excellent pool area but do not expect the same frills as a UK 4 star hotel.

“WE Loved This Hotel”

Hotel Arena

20 Mar 2008

We just got back from a week in this hotel and loved it. I agree with the previous post that cooked breakfast wasn’t great – bacon greasy, scrambled egg weird but OK, and yes we said too at the time that it was a shame the coffee etc was from machines. But from the food point of view, well it’s Spain! And they’re catering for many nationalities (although most were Brits) so we didn’t expect a classic full English from them. We got stuck in and it was fine. There was plenty of very fresh bread, freshly cooked fried eggs to order, pancakes etc. We were perfectly happy really and weren’t looking for problems. You make tea yourself with hot water and it was brilliant whether you had one or 5 (yes that means you C!)

We didn’t book for evening meal but one evening tried it and it was pretty poor for the price of £12 each – yes, £12. So unless you’re full board don’t bother. And yes the drinks prices at the pool were a joke – about £2.00 for about a third of a pint of lager.

SO if you want to basically stay at the hotel all the time you will get fed up with the evening food and drinks prices, but we weren’t sitting around drinking there so if I paid over the odds for the odd beer, so what? There's a shop within 3 mins walk and I just went there and stocked up on beer and Coke Zero there for the room's fridge - no funny rules here (as in Turkey e.g.) about not bringing your own food and drink into the room).

The overall holiday value was amazing – this hotel is far nicer than even Thomas Cook’s brochure and web site make it look. We were delighted from the moment we got to our room. We are a couple in mid 40s who wanted to relax with no loud music blaring at the poolside and no football-shirted loudmouths and we got exactly what we wanted. Virtually no children too so no noise ever. Bliss. (Not a child-hater by any means but nice to have some peace and quiet for 7 days in my life.) Some very quiet Spanish music in the bar one day, rest of the time – nothing, perfect. Mostly an older, quiet, British crowd. If you want non-stop fun and razzamataz, give it a miss but if you want a lovely quiet place outside the town centre to sit around in peace and quiet all day reading and sunbathing and having a dip and a sip, then that’s what we wanted and we loved it. Hotel must be quite new – all looks very fresh and modern.

The room was lovely with good beds, nice sofa and coffee table area, huge balcony overlooking pool. V nice large bathroom. Staff very friendly, whole place very well designed, large pools one cold one heated slightly, very clean. Hotel is 5 mins from beach and from there you can walk into town along it, which is great, or walk there via roads which takes about 20 mins – no probs, as you get to walk off your huge breakfast and we only did it once or twice a day. No noise nearby from roads or planes. We got the quiet relaxing holiday we wanted. Outside the middle of town but all the better for it.

Regarding value – well £370 each including flights for a week here – cheap at the price. Holidays have cost £370 for about the past 25 years! We couldn’t believe what a fantastic holiday we had and thought it was worth more - and my friend/girlfriend/ whatever used to work for a holiday company and is bloomin’ picky!

Went up town every night to wander and eat so not interested in entertainment at hotel and didn’t see it. Not our thing. Would recommend B and B at least as nowhere nearby to have breakfast, and unless you find it hard to get about, I wouldn’t bother with evening meals too.

It's also only 10 mins walk south to the start of the big sand dunes - it's great down there, we really enjoyed it.

I searched Trip Advisor for hotels that suited us and kept coming back to this one and we are both so glad we did. I’ll be back here as soon as poss – we loved the hotel and the town; one of our best ever holidays.

“Dissapointed with this hotel”

Hotel Arena

My wife and I have just returned from a 1 week holiday at the Hotel Arena,Corallejo,Fuerteventura. Having experienced 3 star hotels in the past, we were looking for at least 4 star and after reviewing comments on Trip Advisor, decided to book for 1 week half board via teletext holidays, This hotel was rated as 4 star and the cost of £ 336.00 per person seemed reasonable.
On the positive side, it was a peaceful hotel with reasonable facilities for lounging beside the pools and the hotel and rooms were cleaned every day.
However our hotel room did have a damp aroma about the place and we had a leaking pipe under the bathroon sink. We did not complain and left a towel beneath to catch the water.
In our opinion, the only thing 4 star about this hotel was the price of the drink. For example EU 2.50 for a small beer and EU 4.80 for a Bailleys or equivalent.
At breakfast, there was a choice of fruit juices from a dispenser with a variety of cereals and fruit. If you liked continental, then there were a choice of cold meats, cheeses and bread rolls. If you wanted to toast bread, then you had to put the slices through the machine at least 3 times. However if you liked a cooked breakfast, it was very disappointing. The food was greasy and luke warm.
For dinner it was a similar story, with a poor quality of hot meals and we ended up eating out, 4 times from 7 nights.
The entertainment was basic, but for the time of year this was understandable.
During the holiday, we decided to pop in to another hotel, which was 4 star, and it was night and day.
Despite our experience, the holiday was very good and we will return to Fuerteventura again, but definately not to the Hotel Arena, as in our opinion this facility does not live up to it's 4 star rating.

“Hotel ok - Food awfull”

Hotel Arena

Bradford England

Sitting in the hotel lobby typing this as I await a cab to take us into town for some diner. Just can´t bring ourselves to eat in the restaurant as its is very poor, which is a great shame as like the comments from other reviewers the general standard of the hotel is ok but not four star.

Rooms are spacious and clean, pool area is small but again clean and well kept. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The whole experience is unfortunately let down by the food which is very poor and is a major turn off more the majority of people who are staying here this week.

Whilst appreciating that everyones tastes are different, its the basics which let the hotel dowm. Juice and coffee from machines, no bread for toast and food which is plentifull but certainly not four star.

Hope the management read these types of feedback as its unfortunate that the food lets down a very pleasant small hotel that is good value, but not if you need to walk into town for both your breakfast and evening meal. After all even if budget, you have paid for it.
